i say help them, but only on the little things. I always get stuck on the little things like the derivative of e^5x was either 5e^5x or e^5x. little things like that I think we can answer. but when they ask for the answer of the whole problem... then i say...mehhhhh {integral of ln(x)e^5x dx}<--my whole thing. was able to solve, but i needed clarification on the little piece

I say help them to the point where they're only hurting themselves and later wish they did the homework themselves later on in life when they are a bum. We should help them "realize" that they've hurt themselves 10 years down the line.

i posted a thread about subnetting

i said what i needed and what i was comming up with and asked why that might be

but i later figured it out and posted that i had it all down

as far as some one posting there math problems and us doing them... thats bullsh!t
but if they come here and need to get peoples opinions on something i don't think thats bad at all

I definitely agree with this. I really don't mind, and I actually like helping people out with their homework. But if they don't even try to do it themselves, it is a bad idea to help them. If they try, and don't get it, that's a different story. I had to help this kid in my programming class who didn't understand cin and cout statements. He was from another country and just came here like two years ago, so his grasp of the language wasn't that great. Which explains why he had a hard time learning new things when he can't always understand what's trying to be expressed. But when people just post questions because they're too lazy to do a search on google, or they're too lazy to try and figure out the problem for themselves I say, "too bad for you. I'm not going to let you get a grade you don't deserve! Try a little."

But seriously though, people with honest questions should get a little more help too. I asked for help in the software forum and after 75 looks, not one person offered to help out. 🙁

Lots of kids are great at goading other people into showing off their HS homework doing skillz. I totally agree with the goose, laziness should not be encouraged. But don't let it get you mad either. Just remember, their laziness will not profit them in the end, and you get to exercise your mind to keep it in shape.

To anyone using the search function, the resonance energy of benzene is - 36.4 kcal/mol; you will need to know it if you take organic chem.
