I'll help occasionally. Tonight I'm not in the mood to be an asshole so I helped. Plus, it's nice to know I still can do basic math even if I don't fully understand what's going on in my pre-cal class. :)

yeah, I stopped reading those a while ago, they usually wind up being idotic questions that would be answered if the OP bothered to read the chapter in their text book.

Anyone who has a REAL question gets their thread buried under all the stupid ones.

 to OP

Not unless they _try_ to do the work first, and describe what work they've done and where specifically they're stuck.

Every quarter a fresh crop of n00bs post programming questions here and in Software showing they've given zero throught to solving the problem, they're looking for a handout.

The sad part is, even if they get somebody to post an answer, their lack of effort will mean they fail the tests and final. At best they'll barely pass the class and move on to the next one, where they will fail even more miserably.

If you can't solve it yourself, you should be seeking understanding not just an answer.

I agree entirely. Learned this very early in University, but I still give benefit of doubt....

Looking at homework requires common sense and understanding as well as paying attention in class.

Now, for people that nef along in ATOT and occasionally visit S/W, do you really expect to satisfy all three items prior to asking for help (if you can call it that).

Yup. And then the same ones rant about how hard CS/Physics/Math... classes are after they practically did nothing. It is called, "do the homework yourself, and you'll learn something, you lazy bum!" :|
