You bought a new computer because you burned up your food processor? What did you put in it that damaged the motor?

I was testing some memory and accidently pulled the fan plug out. Ran like a champ for 5 minutes or so.

I almost fried mine last night. Had just moved around the hard drives, and one of the power cables got tangled in the CPU fan, and I didn't notice it. Thankfully the computer shut it self off, and I cracked the case, touch everything cause I could smell that something was warm, and lo and behold, the heatsink/fan were HOT. But I let it cool overnight and started it this morning, and all is well. Phew.

In my abit nf7-s I was dicking with the BIOS settings and I have it set to "alert" me if the CPU tops 55 celcius, and the computer to auto shut off if the cpu fan stops. I figure that the alert is really secondary in importance, because with the heatsink securely attached and the fan continuing to run, there is essentially no way to cause CPU damage, so I should be good. I did toast my HD last night, but it wasn't worth much.

2500 rating, or 2500 mhz? As you know the bartons are clocked pretty low. A 2200 mhz barton is rated at 3200. I've heard of 2400-2500 mhz being around the max, but most should be able to hit 2200 or so. I only got mine in last night am and still dicking with the OS, so I have not overclocked mine yet.

Next time see if you can have the mobo auto-shutdown when the CPU gets above a certain temp or the fan stops running ;)

You think you're stoked? I am replacing a celeron 1000 :)
