for my mommy, all by myself. I built her a 900 mhz duron, with onboard video and sound (she doesn't game, or do anything besides surf the net and print recipes/coupons, so its perfect for her, and cheap too.) I didn't have a single problem, and did it all by myself, I am so proud. Last year at this time, I was scared to install a stick of ram on my own, I kept arguing with Adul and Siva that I couldn't handle it. :p The only thing I asked for help with was to make sure everything I picked was compatible, and Adul recommended a good mobo that was cheap, and had everything she needed, along with being stable.

She is thrilled, she has a new computer for about 300 bucks, and I am happy I got to build it, and it actually works! :D I think you guys turned me into a geek in the last two years. ;)

Congrats to you!!

Did you get a cut on your hand? You know you've built a computer if you come out with a cut or nick on you hand.

Nope, no cuts, I guess I did something wrong. :( Next time I will be sure to though! And bah, OS and drivers are nothing for me, I have had to reformat mine so many times over the past year for something stupid I did, I am a pro at that stuff now. ;)

As for building more, one for my kids is next, then I am going to hopefully one day in the not too far off future, build myself a kick ass puter. Can't tell you what that will be yet though, cause the list is always changing. :p

I begins with a innocent first build then you try overclocking...and then you start to case mod ...and then you want to build two or three of them ...and then you realize you spend all your money on your computers. :Q

Well done. He's right, y'know: it's a disease. Overclocking tbirds/durons is so easy i couldn't help myself. Next thing y'know, I'm building computers for everybody.

Hurray for you! Now, have you estimated the time you'll need to set aside to help all of your friends and their problems? :)

Congrats GF :)! You are one of us nerds now ;). And I must say, we REALLY do need more female-members among us nerds! What's the nerd male-to-female ratio right now? 50.000:1?

EDIT: I just realized that... I love building computers! Yes, it is a pain to re-install all your software... But installing that new hardware, installing software, tweaking settings...

Oh god, I'm beyond redemption

EDIT2: On third thought... Even re-installing the software isn't that bad....

....help me....

<< Congrats, you're an adult now ;) >>

Oh wait, now lets not push it! ;)

As for the OC, my motherboard (ECS K7S5A) has no voltage adapters, I already tried it. And it can't handle an FSB overclocking, I get all sorts of errors. :(

That's way cool GirlFriday! I hope one day I can just get my wife to install an OS for me. So far, I have showed her how to scan, burn a cd, and shop online:)
That's about it for now.

Hehe, my hubby rued the day I learned to shop online. But now instead of Drugstore.com and Amazon, he is learning to hate Newegg instead. :D
