The mobo has to be a DFI.

The thing is i already have a X1800XL and i don't know if i should:

1... go crossfire

Or

2....go sli

Or

3....Just use my X1800XL

Is cross fire any good? Also i would have to spend much on going cross fire cause i already have the X1800XL.

What do you think i should do?

Any help would be great.

SLI and Crossfire do little to help unless youre playing in really high resolutions

STAY AWAY FROM DFI!!! Those boards are nothing but trouble. Go to www.dfi-street.com to find out more about all the problems theese boards have. I had one for a week and almost threw the thing out the window. RMA'ed it and got a ASUS A8N32-SLi Deluxe and it rocks!

The problem with going crossfire is that you would have to find a X1800XT mastercard. (I don't think they make a XL). They are kind of expensive.

You would be better of either keeping your current card or selling it and getting a 1900/7900.

Get the new DFI RD580 board due out any day now. You can run another X1800XL in crossfire without the dongle even! !(No mastercard needed).

Ya and I've had my DFI board (Ultra-D) for over a year now and It's given me 0.00000 problems.

Not true. I read an article just the other day that now the X1800 XL's run crossfire via driver. No dongle or mastercard ...All you need is another XL. But I think the mobo has to be Xpress3200

Just sell your X1800XL for around $250 on the FS/T forums, and buy a $439 X1900XT like I did.

The max setting i can play is 1280 by 1024.

So what do you guys think, will i see any diff at 1280 by 1024 with sli or cross fire?

You'll notice little difference. For playing @ 1280x1024 w/ max everything, go with the X1900XT like I did. BF2 plays 1280x960, Maximum settings, 6x Quality AAA/16x HQAF and is silky smooth.

My advice is to use your X1800XL now and wait for DX10 cards
or if you don't wanna wait sell the X1800XL and get the Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe
mainboard+Sapphire X1900XTX

I'm in no hurry to get another grafix card so i think i will wait for the DX10 cards then upgrade.

How long do you think a X1800XL could last me, when it comes to all the new games coming out.

X1900XT $439 << Over awesome card
X1900XTX $499 << Can be a overclocking beast :! if you get aftermath cooling for $30 to $40 / 740/885 can do and would score about 13200 3D 2005Marks.

but then you can wait till end of the year and buy a beasty

R6XX or G7X for $499
Intel New CPU Concore 2.4Ghz $350
SLI new mobo/Crossfire 600 Motherboard $150
