I build Android from source tonight....

... and yes, it was awesome. Entire compilation took around 90 minutes (eek!), but when I was done I could boot up to a completely clean ROM (only on the emulator so far). I mean the app drawer literally had 0 apps in it. Once I get more comfortable with the build process I'm going to try my hand at some slight mods.

I feel like I know my phone on a whole new level now

I just did the generic build right now (I think only the emulator will boot it)... it's a complicated build process that has surprisingly little documentation, but I'd like to get something that will run on my EVO eventually.

I think there are some guides on the CM Wiki, but I'm not sure how current they are.

Nice, hope you keep it up and figure out some awesome stuff to do to it. The mod communities make these smartphones so much more awesome than they would be stock.
