I Had a dead battery in one of my work trucks, I pulled the hood latch cable and it broke off in my hands. I did manage to pop the hood by grabbing the little wire in the middle of the cable and yanking.
BUT I wasn't ready to replace the battery so I unhooked the latch cable from the bracket about 2 inches from the hood latch (under the hood at the front), I thought it would make it easier to pop the hood later when I had a battery, but it has made it impossible to pop the hood by pulling on the cable inside the truck. No matter how hard I yank on it, it literally broke snapped in half on me.
So how do I pop the hood without a cable?
I talked to a garage they said they would have to take off the grill (about $200) but it sounded like they were unsure. When I googled it, on a similar truck, you had to pop the hood FIRST.. THEN take off the grill, so what *%&#, LOL.

There's gotta be a way.
