I broke the handle on my car door.

2007 Kia Sedona, sliding door. Cold morning, not frozen, just gets a bit stuck to the seals. I pulled a little too hard and pop, the handle broke. FML moment.

Not too expensive from what I can see to get a replacement - about $35 shipped. Only problem is they come unfinished, so I'd still have to take it to a body shop to have it matched and painted. I assume that will end up costing a small fortune regardless.

Yes, there's always the "scour the junk yards and see if I can find a matching one", but it will probably cost me more in gas just to track one down.

This is why you buy either a black car, or a black car, because all the replacement car parts come in black.
 
For a door handle? Just get some matching spray paint from the dealer, or even dupli-color from the parts store, and some clear coat.
 
car-part.com and send out a request with the color code. They'll find one and often will ship to you for a great price.
 
Alright, replacement handle + DIY paint job it is. Amazingly my wife said "do it" and seemed serious about it.
 
I haven't ever seen dealers with spray paint, just the touchup pens/brushes. But you can order factory paint codes in a rattle can online.

Those handles are typically pretty simple to replace. Without a window regulator to get in the way, that one should be pretty easy. Sometimes the hardest part is just popping off the little plastic piece beside the actual handle without breaking it. Also be careful when disconnecting any control rods; they're usually held in place by little plastic clips that are easy to break.

I did this on a vehicle a few years back. You can get one like you say and have it painted, or you can get OEM color match for over $100 or you can do what I did which is use an online car parts database that has junk yards in it. I found a part in the middle of nowhere easily with whatever site I ended up using and had it shipped, was in great shape.
