I've read that article, and it's wrong. In my experience RAID-0 greatly decreases load times for everything from programs, to graphics, to movies, to games.
I can immediately tell the difference between a RAID-0 set up and single drive just from Windows load time and initial program load times. The RAID-0 machine just feels snappier in HD intensive tasks.
And the "danger" is WAY over hyped. If the chance of one drive failing is .001% than doubling that simply makes it .002%.
Oh, and in the 6 years I've been running RAID-0 arrays on multiple machines, I've never had a failure.
For some reason, there is a strong anti-RAID-0 movement out there. I have no idea why when the positive effects are IMMEDIATELY noticeable.
