in an accident trying to determine which fan was causing a cricket noise in my computer, i accidentally hit the moving blades of my panaflo 80mm fan against the corner of my thermalright sk6 heatsink :( this resulted in my fan losing one of its blades (rendering it unstable and unusable) and bending the last thin metal sheet of copper on the sk6 off (those who have seen sk6 will know what i mean)

common sense tells me that losing one sheet of the dozens will make no difference, but i just thought i would make sure. right now i just have the sheet bent off to one side - it doesnt seem very easy to break it off.

it ends up the sound was coming from my antec psupply fan... ill attempt vainly to get them to reimburse me for my fan and heatsink... (in addition to replacing the psupply)

Well, I hope you learned your lesson. You should never stick your hand inside a computer when its on. But whats funny is that I still havent learned that. I've broken many a fan and skinned many a knuckle, and I still havent learned. Let both your accident and my stupidity be a lesson to you. :)

And I'm pretty sure losing one fin wont hurt the heatsink too much. It has 30-something more. :)

i have done this all to often myself sticking my hands in computers and finding a fan moveing............thats why they make fan guards. i use them now after my last ordeal

i dont feel you have anything to worry about on the heatsink..........just replace the fan and i think you will be fine. just watch the temperature of the cpu

Don't make others pay for your mistakes. If the power supply was indeed the problematic component, then yes, it deserves to be replaced. However, you destroyed the fan and heatsink by your own fault, so that DOES NOT warrant a replacement.

Heh, on my sk-6, the outer 2 fins aren't really even connected to the base securely. I wouldn't worry about it. Mine still cools fine.
