I got the basic game (not Game-of-the-Year). The one and only CD in the box says Disk 1 - Game. Is there supposed to be a second CD with extra textures or something?

Thanks

The second CD was meant to be used with S3's texture compression and the S3 video cards. There was a hack that came out that allowed some Nvidia cards to run them as well.

To be honest, I have never used the second cd. If you really want it, I'll send you mine :)

You can always call a local game store like Electronic's Boutique and ask a sales clerk. They should know. But usually, if the disk is marked with a Disk 1, there should be a second disk.

The retail version has 2 discs and the OEM version (like the one that came with my Sound Blaster card) only has one disc. However...on single disc version is not labeled "Disc 1".

Thanks. Looks like they left one out of the box. I'll go back with my "redeemer" and straighten things out.

Peemo,

The "retail" UT comes with 2 CDs. Up until recently, the 2nd CD was useless as only certain S3 cards could run the special textures. Several months ago, Loki impoved the OpenGL dll file for UT to the point it was playable and it also allowed Nvidia and Radeon users to use the S3TC textures on the 2nd CD. The programer at Loki, Daniel Vogel, now works for Epic and has steadily improved the OpenGL dll to the point it is actually better than D3D (IMO).

See the Unreal Technology page (http://unreal.epicgames.com/) for the latest OpenGL dll file and the Unreal Tournament ini file settings.

Also, the 3dSpotlight UT FAQ has some information on installing the textures from the 2nd CD.
