I sort of know the feeling, I was keeping an eye on some 1GB DDR2 SODIMM's, generally running about $80 for a stick. Then about 2 weeks before I was planning on purchasing them, waiting to start my new job, they started to take off. :( OCZ stuff went to $105 and two other backups have been out of stock at NewEgg for 2 1/2 weeks now.

I didn't need 2GB, but guess I settle from buying at ZZF 512MB sticks.

I just knew they were going to bump this ram up in price as it was the last (good) ram I could find that was substantially under $200. I'm glad I bought it last Fri when it came back in stock.

$270 is just outrageous though.

I got an auto-notify from Newegg last night about this RAM. I wasn't buying, but it was still $181. About 2 hours after later it was out of stock again and it said "ETA 10/2/2006 12:18:00 PM". Today it's back on at $270. Seems a little like somebody messed up with the new pricing and Newegg said is was "out of stock" until they got their database updated.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is but ram has been expensive lately. I bought 1GB of PC3200 a year or two ago for $75 and that's cheaper than I've seen lately! I was hoping to upgrade to 4GB. Guess I'll have to wait. :(

I can't believe how much memory has gone up. I bought 2GB of some 800MHz Corsair memory for $160 after rebate about two months ago.

Remember folks, the next time ram prices drop, start stockpiling! Easy money.

memory is cheap, HOW much do you need? 4 gigs if you're some uber power user. Ram prices are incredibly cheap compaired to what I remember paying for my AST 286. a 2 meg upgrade, I paid 800 bucks.

I'd be more then happy to pay 300 bucks for 2 gigs. I know it's a lot more then it was a month ago, but how often do you buy memory?

Wow, how long has Newegg been like that? (with the customer reviews to the right and stuff?) That's going to take a little getting used to...

how? back then a person made less then they do today, today you're getting more product for much less cash. You can't spend as much today as you did back then. In 89 I spent over $1,100 bucks on a 130 meg HD and $700 bucks on a 14.4k modem. Try spending anywhere close to that much on either thing I mentioned today, you can't do it. Technology is so cheap now a days it's almost scary. My first PC, with a MONOCROME monitor and no HD cost more then an SLI Alienware system, to the tune of 2-3x as much.
People who complain about spending 200 bucks on a buttload of memory have it GOOD I tell you *shrug*

Heh, lamers, I paid $200 for 2 GB of 2-3-2 PC3200 DDR last December. You guys have to pay $300 for super high latency DDR2. I pity the fools that need DDR2.

*hugs Socket 939*
