Did that far too many times with Craftsman tools (sockets and torx bits) and got tired of it. Then I bought Snap-On and haven't looked back (I paid $165 for the tamper resistant Torx set posted above).

It's not American tools that are garbage, it is cheap tools, regardless of where they are made.
 
I'll just struggle along with Craftsman and their faults...
That's what I do - their tools are a good 85% of what I need them to be, I'm a firm believer of paying good money for a good set of tools, but the Snap-On is insane
