I'm not much of a girly girl and so this was an entirely new experience for me. I have to say, the woman at the perfume counter must be drinking the stuff or something; she was really... wired.

I wound up liking the Dulce Gabbana (sp?) Light Blue. Nice citrus-type scent that's very very light. I can't stand walking in a room and gagging from heavy perfume some lady has on.

I've never bought anything name brand before (most of my clothes are hand me downs from family/coworkers - yay for shopaholic coworkers! or secondhand from secondhand stores) and the price just about killed me.

Gals, what do you use? Guys, what do your girlfriends use?

I have Sensi by Georgio Armani I got for myself and My hubby got me Very Sexy by Victoria's Secret. I have real oily skin so citrusy smells end up smelling horrid on me, so I get orientals and musks. (Which both of those are.)

nothing fancy, just the lighter Japanese cherry blossom from the perfume section of Bath and Body Works.

I checked the B&BW stuff out two days ago. I liked the grapefruit one best but all of them struck me as kind of alcohol-y smelling and I wanted to check out some other stuff before I bought any. May just have been how they interacted with my skin.

the citrus type stuff are usually too strong for my taste... the lighter ones seems to go over better, many girls seem to be into Cucumber Melon. (this is all from female opinions my workplace, one of the girls being my girlfriend).

Light Blue is my girlfriend's favorite perfume. I bought her a big bottle of it last year as a gift.

Congratulations, that's quite the achievement! What is next on your list of unbelievably ambitious goals? Being the first woman to walk on the moon? Becoming President? Writing a paper detailing Grand Unification theory?

The fact that you've decided it would be a good idea to brag about buying perfume with your boyfriend's money (in a public forum no less) is indicative why men are still in charge of everything on this planet.

I don't care much as long as it's very light. Just walk by the bottle once a week and that'll be enough for me.

Cucumber-melon is one of the worst combos ever IMHO. Just typing out the name makes me feel ill. Not far behind it is baby powder.

The whole idea of perfume is sketchy for me. It just goes against who I am.

But Tresor is nice- my mom likes it, and so do I.

From what I remember of her postings, she typically pays her own way a lot. Her boyfriend is well to do from what I remember and wants to buy her more, but she doesn't allow it. Big friggin' whoop.

and posts like yours are a good indicator of why a lot of guys here end up making love to their hands instead of women.

Good for you!!! I think its perfectly fine to treat oneself from time to time with seomthing like perfume.

I love perfume and like to try different ones, although i try to have a "signature" scent.
Right now, my favorite was/is Desire Angels by Victoria's Secret, although i LOVE Prada and and J'adore by Dior.
Also, a hint i learned: if you dont want to spend the mucho $$ on perfume, get a perfumed body lotion in the scent you like. It will last longer and will mositurize too!

I'm not too into the girly-girl stuff too much either, but I have found a couple of different perfumes I like and wear now. Sunwater by Lancaster was what I started out with, but it's on the more expensive side (probably not to most, but expensive to me). After that I discovered both Moves by Adidas and In Bloom by the Healing Garden. The last two I picked up on a trip to the drugstore with my mom. They were having half off perfume gift sets so we sniffed around and found some we liked. I gotta say that In Bloom is my favorite right now...not overpowering, fairly light scent. Also, the ones from the drugstore (Moves and In Bloom) aren't too expensive. Once I have more money available to spend I may start checking out some other scents, but for a broke person I'm pretty set for perfume for now. :)

My wife loves Champs-Élysées, so I get a bottle every so often. To me a good perfume is a "hint" of a fragrance, not overpowering. It has to be subtle.

Nothing wrong with getting yourself a nice fragrance every now and again, it makes you smell nice to others, but can also give you a boost as well (put a little spring in your step). Some of the Victoria's Secret scents are really nice as well.

Experiment, dab a little bit of something on your skin and wait a while. If you like it, you can buy it. Don't just buy something, or you'll end up spending a bunch of money on something you don't really like.

Agentbolt, nice attempt at threadjacking, give it a rest.

Hanae Mori is AWESOME. I got my GF that for her bday last year, and it's another light but very nice perfume. A little more expensive, and a more formal perfume, is Vera Wang.

What do you expect? She's a Jersey girl.
