I bought my first Mac.

So I picked up a 20" 2.1GHZ IMac G5 yesterday. I have it set up in my living room, I have to say so far I like it, I'm a life long PC user, but I'm adapting pretty quickly. The screen on this thing is pretty sweet. First impression of OSX is that is it really easy to use.

I'm still feeling my way around some things but pretty much everything is idiot proof. I ditched the apple mouse in favor of my MS Intellimouse explorer (I can't live without my right mouse button) It picked it up with no issues and everything works great. (scroll wheel and thumb buttons). Hooked up to my wireless network in about 10 seconds out of the box.

I'll give a better review once I get to know it a little better

:cookie:'s all around

And which of those can't you do with a PC?

isnt it kinda stupid to buy one now with the hardware switch over comming so soon?

you could have gotten one then and then just dual booted WinXP/OSX

which is what i will do if they ever hack OSX to work on non Intel hardware

the point is that he CAN do it with a Mac. He's well aware of what he can do on a PC.

I didn't say you can't do any of those things with a PC, actually I loaded all that stuff to feel more at home, coming from the PC world.

On a side note, I love the little remote that comes with the IMac, you can control Itunes, DVDs, Slide Shows, etc. And it sticks to the side of the monitor with a magnet.

Perhaps, I just got the bug in my head and I bought one.

I also ordered a bluetooth keyboard, so I can sit on my couch and surf, the screen is big enough to see from at least a few feet away.

Yeah same here. I did a few upgrades. Replaced the 400mhz processor with a 1ghz processor, 2 hard drives, upped the ram to 768mb. I had this Mac for so long. Never bought another Mac since then. 😉

I also ordered a 512 RAM upgrade from crucial, to bring it up to 1 Gig. 🙂

I have an older 800mhz iMac with the 17" LCD screen. Since I already have 2 PCs here that I use, I have it on a semi-permanent loan to my mom, who uses it to do email and browse the web. There's no way in hell I'd trust her to not mess up a Windows based PC with viruses and spyware...

Run OSX....

that is until someone gets the "new" intel version to work on all types of PCs.

Sweet! A friend of mine odered a 1gb stick for her G5 iMac because it came with a measly 256mb. She has the older 2ghz iMac without all the goodies the new one comes with. She's happy with it though.
