I bought Black Ops 4, my first COD game since MWII

I bought it last night after it went full release. Played blackout for one round but I ran out of time and had to stop, but oh man this game is slick as hell and runs like a dream. I love blackout and can't wait to check out the rest of multiplayer and the zombies mode.

Haven't played a COD game in the longest time, but the boring ass WWII scene of BF5 coming right after the boring ass scene of WWI in BF1 has just killed it for me permanently. Combined with their stupid political crap being shoehorned into the game, I'm done.

I forsake COD forever and was a hardcore Battlefield fan, but that flipped now. I'm not buying BF5 and will stick with COD for my online shooter fix. Battlefield lost me but that's over now I don't care. Blackout is disgusting awesome I love it. I can't wait to sit down for some zombie action and see what that's all about too.

Oh lol, yeah it has no campaign. There are some story elements to experience though by going to specialist something something. I mainly bought this game for blackout. I have PUGB and find it to be an unforgiveable pile of crap. I watch the hand swipe the ground 5 times before picking up the stupid item because the game is so laggy and crappy. I hate PUBG and could seriously write a proper essay of 500+ words on why that game is garbage. When you move and strafe in PUBG it feels like you are on ice skates. You slide around and slosh back and forth. It feels sloppy, crappy netcode, laggy and just BLAH!
Blackout is AMAZEBALLS!

I've been thinking about picking it up since I saw a video where it showed something similar to pub g. Is it like that or is it like old cod style ? I haven't played cod online since like modern warfare.

How's it compare?

I swore I'd never buy another Treyarch CoD game, but my friends insisted. I'd say it's good, but not great. The maps are small, but nice. The gameplay is pretty smooth, though there are a lot of weird UI bugs. I don't like the character based gameplay, it's a little to Overwatch for me, and some of the unlocks are just stupidly powerful. It's maybe 75% of MW2, which is passable since there hasn't been a decent, well-done FPS in a while.

It has that Blizzard... sheen on it. I'm not sure how to describe it. If you liked MW2, I think you'll get some enjoyment out of this. I haven't played the Battle Royale mode yet - my friends say it's very disappointing and don't want to play it.

I ended up getting it on PC. Runs fine maxed out. Although still kind of looks blurry at times. I don't get the specialist roles and it seems you can't customize a load out unless you join your own lobby?

The customize button on the main screen is locked for me. It is quite fun to play, very fast paced. I haven't tried blackout yet but since I also play pub g I think I may know what it's like.

You have to be level 5 to create a class.

The regular team deathmatch modes are fun for a change-up, but the player counts are small and it's not what I bought the game for. I haven't tried zombies yet but am sort of looking forward to it. I'm really loving blackout.

Have you adjusted the HUD yet? There is a setting where you can simply drag the HUD out to the sides all the way. Its awesome because with this it has basically perfect ultrawide support.

Pubg is getting to me with the bugs and cheating and other reta... things bluehole insists on changing on a daily basis.. Is the blackout matchmaking any good? sync issues? massive cheating yet?

Interesting. I have the res set to 3440x1440 and aspect ratio to automatic. Didn't look at all the options yet and had no idea that there is a way to drag the screen out. Everything is set to the highest except field of view on medium.

Yes on the first question. I don't know on the second, I haven't tried to set that up yet.

Tried to play tonight and I'm getting these two errors on launch. Nothing comes up in search except the first one on Activision forums but no solution.

Was working fine yesterday after I installed the game.

hmm...did you do a DDU uninstall and then install the newest nvidia drivers? There is a new version for this game. I haven't had a single crash or anything. Could it be a bad OC on CPU or GPU? I had random crashes in mostly just BF4 for months until I finally surrendered and tried lowering my GPU clock to 2088 from 2114. I can't remember the last time anything crashed on me now.

No overclock on the CPU and a small auto one on the GPU in the Asus utility (oc mode).

I just kept retrying and it finally worked. Although I should check and see if Nvidia drivers are all up to date. They should be as of Friday.

Installing drivers over each other can also cause some messed up issues over time. Using DDU has fixed some pretty serious issues in the past for me.

Yea I'll try using ddu now. I was just in a match right now and I got that error again. Hopefully that will fix it for me.

Curious how it hers get armor in the game. My opinion the armor needs to be somewhat downgraded. There's been plenty of times I've loaded a whole clip into someone and because they had crazy hard armor it only took away half of the life.

I mainly use the icr weapon as I don't really like any of the other preloaded classes. Once I can unlock something that gives the icr higher firerate I'll enjoy it more. Still have to try blackout mode. I've mainly been playing control and tried out heist but wasn't a big fan.

Thanks - I am in the same boat. Thinking about making the change but it has been so long- almost 5-6 years since I picked up a COD game. BF1 was just meh - bad guns, bad tanks, and just horrible horrible animation.

Turns out the ICR and the one assault gun you unlock after it that shoots a bit slower are the best AR's in the game so far. With the icr you can unlock grip 2 which basically gives you a fully automatic weapon without any recoil. No stock though so if you need to aim quickly and strafe you will be a bit slower.

I also tried blackout but just like pub g I have yet to get a kill. I hit people and injure their armor but not much else. Blackout is really fun when you are with a good squad. It's just unfortunate that it's random squads each time and the mechanics are much better than pub g.

Pick up a scope, it will automatically be attached to your weapon. You can get gadgets too to use. But it does make more sense with a good team. I always end up scavenging a bunch of crap only to be picked off walking or crawling across a field 5 minutes later. Which makes me wonder why pub g and blackout or just basically why any Battle Royale games are popular?

There's nothing at the end of a match..you don't get any unlocks at least not that I know of in blackout. Besides character items and your character level which can increase.

The game runs worse for me after yesterdays update. I played a map of TDM no problem, but then one of Blackout and notice major drops in frames. I'll run from steady 140+ down to 75 and back up. A friend of mine has the same issue, however his is a lot worse (very similar specs). I'm running an 8700k/1080ti/16gb 3600. The only change was the update that was pushed yesterday.

Yeah, ever since that patch the game has gone from "fun to play" to "I want a refund"

Looks like the game changes your object view distance to low which causes stutter. Try turning it back to high.
