This one has a 4.75” barrel and is blued with case hardened frame and chambered in .45 Long Colt. The gun was advertised on gunbroker.com and it is in near mint condition. It is a third gen SAA manufactured in 2002. I had it shipped to a local gun shop and I’m going down there today to do the paperwork. I’ll snap some pics then and post them up later.

I bought my son a Colt .45 last month and we both enjoy shooting it so I picked this one up for me. I’d kind of like to add a 7.5” barrel SAA to the collection at some point. I’ll keep my eye out for one, maybe a second gen model in excellent condition.

They are fun guns to shoot, very natural extension of the arm and pointable with a crisp trigger. I can see why they are so popular. It’s kind of fun taking them to the range too because it seems like everyone is shooting semi-auto handguns, you don’t see too many revolvers, let alone revolvers based on 125+ year old technology.

Bought another one. This one was manufactured in 1979, has a 7 1/2” barrel and is nickel plated. A very pretty gun.

Nice! Looking forward to the pics.

I think one day I'd like to pick one up, maybe around a 5" barrel or so. I prefer the standard blue finish; I've seen Hickok45 with some color case hardened ones and I'm not a huge fan of that look but I can see where others are.

I don't really know much about them though. I suppose most of the ones you see are like reproduction ones, and not original old school ones? They definitely are a cool piece of history.

There are plenty of reproductions that are true to the originals but the ones manufactured by Colt are very true to the first gen guns, plus, they are actual Colt firearms with little difference between the 3rd gen and the 1st gen guns other than 100 years of use. Refinishing devalues any old Colt though.

I actually held a Colt that was issued to the 7th Cavalry recently. This gun had been authenticated by Colt as having been issued to the 7th Cavalry and was in the battle of Little Bighorn. There is no evidence of who it was issued to but it was a cool piece of history to hold in my hand.

Pretty cool. Looks like there are some 45 Colt rounds with some serious ballistics.

I was browsing through some revolvers that shoot this round as well as 45 ACP and 410's. Some of the options are really interesting.

It’s a cowboy gun. Slow to reload, not really suited to self defense and Colt hasn’t changed the way this gun is manufactured in more than 100 years so you really don’t want to shoot hot loads with it.

I dig it though, and my son digs it. They point naturally, recoil is pretty mild and they are fun to shoot. It is purely for poking holes in paper targets.

It’s more of a nostalgia thing... and a Red Dead Redemption 2 thing.

Can I have some of the extra money you have to blow on guns?

“I spent half my money on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted.”

All things considered, guns have proven to be a pretty good investment,

Wow..I'm not really into guns in real life...(more in games),but that is one beautiful Single Action Army Colt.

Love how it looks both shiny and weathered at the same time.

Yeah that's definitely a great looking piece.

Hmmm I guess I'll look into Colts then when I'm ready to get one. Thanks for the info.
