i bought a vintage fender twin!

On the way home from work yesterday, I made a random stop at a pawn shop. While I was in there, I saw this lonely Fender Twin laying in a pile of junk, and I asked if it still worked. Long story short, I walked home with it for $200 🙂

The reverb worked in the shop, but doesn't anymore. The vibrato doesn't work either. Someone said I might need to have a footswitch plugged in to have either work. Everything on it is original. I am, however, going to take it into a tech to have some new tubes dropped in, and fix up some of the other electronics that might be dying or are dead.

Definitely needs some TLC, but it sounds pretty sweet 🙂

AWESOME!!!! I can never find gems like that in pawn shops. I always see crappy guitars that were bought at Target.

The only thing you have to watch on those amps is there was a model with a serial number that started with A767 that tended to explode when it was powered on for more than 30 minutes. Fortunately I am able to repair these amps. If you do have an amp like this, send it to me and I can get it fixed up.

😉

The soldering on older amps tends to come loose. You might have a bad contact from moving it around. That'll probably take care of your missing reverb. There is a pedal that will turn it on and off, but if I recall you don't need it to use it.

That looks like my amp. For the reverb, take the spring box out and check the wires. They're fairly delicate, and sometimes break. It's an easy fix if that's the case. Nice find :^)

Btw, I wouldn't replace the tubes just to do it. It's expensive as hell to fully outfit the amp. If you're happy with the sound, leave it as is. Some people, myself included prefer the sound of broken in tubes.

Sweet find! When all said and done, post some clips of it in action 😛

you better believe it...!!!!

anyone suggest a good overdrive pedal for this guy? I have a boss distortion ds-1 that sounds like trash (thin, lifeless) through it.

I was joking BTW (lame attempt to steal your amp lol)

Damn Fritz, you could of had yourself a nice vintage fender amp 😛

Stupid Catholic upbringing makes me too damn honest :|

sweet silverface! take some guts shots if you can 🙂

You'll want to check the capacitors when you take it to your tech, an amp that old will probably need some caps.

cool score for sure
