...and the clerk started to explain to me what the receipt was for. I know there are some stupid people in the world but is it really necessary to tell a 20 year old what a receipt is used for?

BTW there are many 20+ year olds that are stupid. Blame our great American education system.

Besides, I'm sure you're (scottyb) aware that there is no shortage of stupid people in the world that need things explained to them. :D

Um...correct me if I'm wrong, but knowing about receipts falls under "common sense" not "things I learned in school".
