I bought a ZE4400 hp laptop and customized it the way i wanted it to be. I decided that I should do regular backups to my desktop so that I don't screw myself somehow, so I bought Ghost. Now I can't get the network backup feature of Ghost to work properly. Ghost said that I needed to use a Netgear 311 driver to use my network card, but acording to computer management, my laptop has a National Semiconductor DP83815 10/100 MacPhyter PCI adapter. I tried several different network drivers in Ghost, but none of them work. I even downloaded the NDIS driver from the HP web site and tried it, but it didn't work either. I think that driver only works for XP. Does anyone know how to make Ghost work with my network adapter?

Hey Brian,

I have a ZE4300, and so far have put off ghosting my drive. (Mine has the same MacPhyter NIC yours does) However I did find that there's a NDIS2 driver on the National Semiconductors site for this NIC:

http://www.national.com/appinfo/networks/0,1804,829,00.html#DOS

Maybe that'll work (or maybe it's the same on that's available on the HP site). Apparently it was updated on 7/24.

I'm going to give it a try tommorow. Let me know if you figure it out before I post again. In the past I've always made a DOS network boot floppy and mapped a drive that way; this laptop doesn't have a floppy drive though, so I guess it's back to the drawing board for me.

Thanks! I'll try that as soon as I get a chance. I'm going on vacation tomorrow for a week (with my laptop of course :) but I'll try it as soon as I get back.
