I bought a GMC Jimmy and a trailer for $450

A guy I know sold it to me. It was his daughters and he said the radiator has a crack and she told him it got hot. So he gave her one of his other cars and didnt want to mess with this so I bought it. He was just going to have a scrap yard come get it so I offered $400 for it and he said ok and I could have the trailer for another $50. I have a guy hauling it my house right now, I figured for $400 why not. It starts up and I could have drove it but I didnt want to risk it. I will replace the radiator but at worse if it needs a head gasket, what would that cost me? Maybe $500-$700, well my Civic was $600 anyway.

The body and interior is pretty good shape and the ac even works. The trailer looks pretty meh but good enough for my uses

What does the oil look like? Run a compression test before you do anything. That will tell you if you have a problem.

Whatever happens you can't go wrong for that price. Trailer is probably worth that much.

It was just delivered but I haven't checked the oil yet. I backed it off the trailer and will mess with it this coming week.

I went out and looked at the oil

I don't see any tan sludge in that image, so it may not have a water leak. Oil looks recently changed, so that's good. Kind of hard to tell without feeling it. A new rad and you may be good to go. May even be able to braze the crack for hardly anything.

Depending on the mileage, since you are getting a new radiator, I would suggest a full coolant flush. Also new hoses, thermostat and pressure cap. These are all cheap and will make sure your new radiator does not get clogged and that the system works as it should.

Nicely done! With some new plywood and a coat of paint, the trailer will look just about new.

Not too bad looking. What year is that truck ? ? Also the headlamps need to be polished to get rid of the foggieness. Slight ding in the left rear bumper cover, but that looks like it will pop right out with a little bit of heat from a hair dryer. You should be able to get behind it and tap it after it warms it up a bit. Paint at that spot seems in good shape.

Does it have the 4.3 V-6?

If yes, and you cannot document this as being already done, have the intake manifold gasket changed the first chance you get. VERY common failure point in that gen. of 4.3 V-6's. The '02 Blazer we owned had to have its intake gasket replaced at around 180K.

That oil absolutely does not look recently changed to me. I'd say it needs to be changed.

The 4.3 was the only engine offered in that generation of Jimmy/Blazer/Bravada.

what oil do you get? most of the stuff I've seen was always golden yellow

I'm with you.

That said, that oil looks like it's about halfway through and oil change to me. Not terribly old, but certainly not freshly changed either.

Good score op.

Sythetic and blend would be golden yellow. Dino would be brown. And a vehicle that old would probably still be dino changes. Synthetic oil more easily leaks through any existing cracks or bad seals. So given the age, I'd just keep running the old fashioned stuff.

I went out and let it run about 30 minutes, the temp gauge stayed a little below half way. I didn't notice any leaks anywhere. I connected my Bluetooth odb2 reader, it didn't pull any error codes on the initial test. I don't really know if I am using that with the Torque Pro app properly though

I pulled it out in my front yard and just sold it for 1050. I had it listed at 1200, this old guy who lives down the street and buys/sells cars on the side bought it, he tried hard for me to take 1000
