That's 8 pints for anyone wondering.

I got them fresh from a local farmer and are they ever good! The price was reasonable too at $30.00. I also bought a basket of fresh sweet cherries for my GF. I also gave my GF and her mom half of my strawberries because I know how difficult it is for her mom to go there and get them herself.

I plan to make a batch of strawberry freezer jam and maybe try my hand at some strawberry-rhubarb tarts.

I just love the smell of fresh, ripe strawberries! Damn these things are addictive!

Strawberries rule. They go to shit quickly though so try to eat them within a couple days.

$30 bucks for a 8 pints seems expensive but I guess thats what you get from living in Canada. The big farms around here will get down to 99 cents a pound at the peak of the season.

$30?!?!?!?!?! $18-20 at our local farms! I don't even want to ask about the blueberries, blackberries, cherries, raspberries, corn, watermelon, or other summer scrumptious flavors.

I love blueberries more, but I do love strawberries and all other berries, too. I wish they were going for that where I shop... good amount to keep some frozen for juicing.

$30 a flat isn't bad. They were all selling them for $5 a pint at the local farmer's market. Ship some of that freezer jam up this way.

try to eat them within a couple days.

I've found putting them in mason jars extends their life by quite a few days. Doesn't need to be vacuum-sealed (although that adds an extra day) & doesn't need to be refrigerated, just dump them in a glass jar & put the lid on. I did an experiment a couple of years ago with a flat & that worked the best.

Fresh prices are around 25$ here for 12 pints. My wife has a bad bad berry habit. Last year we got a pressure cooker and went apeshit canning stuff, along with freezer jams. Now we have to use a little caution when buying. Pantry is full!

Tell me more about your canning adventures. I have a pressure cooker & also bought a pressure canner, although I haven't used the canner yet. Berry season just started though so I want to start putting it to good use. Also starting working on various homemade sauces (ketchup, pizza, spaghetti, BBQ, etc.) that I want to can.

We just had some kind of ebola black plague thing up here due to some church lady's canned goods. Killed hundreds. Kinda scared my off the itch I've been having to can some tomatoes.
