I bought car Thursday and noticed there was damage on the rear passenger side when I got home. Is there anything I can do about it now? It's a 2009.

Update: I went to the previously scheduled appointment for my inspection sticker at the dealership Monday and mentioned the damage. Not only did they say that they would fix it for free, they also said they would pay for me to have a rental car while it's being fixed.

Guess I lucked out!

What did the dealer/person say when you called them and explained the situation to them?

I'm supposed to go back Monday to get an inspection sticker from them. I was just wondering what to expect. Or am I just wasting my time bringing it up because I should have seen it as it is very noticeable but I didn't even look on that side of the car.

There really isn't anything you can do. If you didn't notice it, the dealership will take the position they were unaware of it, too. I know it sucks, but lesson learned.

Keep in mind that the dealership will now be tested. If they knew of it and now deny it, you know to not do business with them again, and can warn others. Of course, ATOT has no evidence you're tell the truth either. :p

I suppose there is no 3 day money back guarantee (for any reason)?

Otherwise, I think you're out of luck.

I think the lesson here is to look on both sides of a car before you buy it.:p

you didn't even look at a side of a car before dumping a bunch of money for it?

I know I should have given it the once over. I saw multiple pictures of the car on the internet and didn't notice any problems. Soon as I got to the dealership we got in the car for a test drive. I was more concerned about the engine and how it drove than anything else. I think I fvcked up!

You bought it used and it sounds like you had ample opportunity to see the damage. Used vehicles normally are sold "as is" and that is exactly what you have. I can't believe you would buy a car without inspecting it first.

You can ask but will likely be wasting your time. I am sure they sold it "as is".

What kind of damage, aesthetic? It's a used car, I would not really worry about it. It's normal. My car has a chunk of bumper missing and few dents and scratches. It's to be expected when you only pay ~5k for a car vs ~25k for a new one.

Still worth bringing it in to see what they say though but it will probably cost.

Internet pictures will always present tbe best side.

Some shady dealers will park the car to make it difficult to see damage on passenger side.

You have already paid for the vehicle. Leverage there is gone. Unless there is a test drive time frame,it is your word against theirs. Reporting to BBB sod be only other option

Emptor caveat.

You have no recourse if the paperwork is signed (in most states, but check your local law first). That said, If I were in your position, I'd make no "Demands". I'd approach it from a very nice angle. The more flies with honey versus vinegar adage comes to mind.

If you're a dick, or rude about it, then they could simply, and rightfully, say that the damage occurred while in your possession over the weekend.

Then you got exactly what you deserved...deal with it and be smarter next time.

I think I fvcked up!

No doubt about it...reasonable or otherwise.

And you didn't call them immediately because...

I have reasonable doubt believing that this thread is nothing more than an attempt at trolling. Either that or the OP needs some common sense.

We all make mistakes but this is all too ridiculous...

I didn't notice it until later about 8:00pm (I left the dealership with the car at about 1:00pm) and the salesman I was dealing with said he was leaving at 6:00pm

Plus I figured there wasn't anything I could do because the papers were already signed.
