I took it home and charged for hours ~6hours, the guide said 2hours to charge batt to full. The camera will turn on when it is docked to a menu, however I take it out and it doesn't turn on. I concluded that the battery doesn't hold charge whats so ever. The dock keeps blinking red as in the battery is charging, but never turns green.

When I opened the box it said "If you have difficulties operating your product, please don't return to store, call us at ...."

I don't really want to deal with 1-800..., can I just bring it back to Best Buy and get a new one? If they say no, I might just tell them I don't want it and you can't charge re-stocking fee or I will f*cking start screaming and make a seen this Sunday morning.

Any advise is appreciated.

Update: I replaced with a camera that is acting the same so far, I can't turn it on. The screen goes brighter for a second and that's it. I am going to call tech support tomorrow and find out if I am missing something, I doubt it.

could there possibly be a little plastic tag that you have to pull off of the battery?

Best Buy only charges a restocking fee for some items. I think cameras may be one of them. You can find their return policy on the website.

But try to take it back. Unlike most people, I have a had wonderful customer service experiences with best buy.

Edit: make sure to tell them that it isn't working properly they should replace it with no restocking fee.

As long as you return it for a replacement, they don't charge a restocking fee. If you return it for a refund, they charge a restocking fee.

They probably will if it's defective and within the return policy, which is probably 15 days.

No I am not, but it bother me because I bought it Friday to use it Sat. at Cedar Point and couldn't. Then I saw the instruction inside the box that said to call 1-800- and I really don't want to ship it somewhere and wait like a week ... because part of me paying that much for it at best buy on Friday was to have right then.

Best of luck with the replacement and let us know how it works out.

No, they'll smash it to bits with a hammer while everyone laughs and points at you, which would be fully deserved.

They didn't have the same model when I went back, so I have to go to another Best Buy that is 1/2hour away to exchange it.

Dive, pay the 15% restocking fee or request that the store have it shipped to them andyou will pick it up when they advise you that it is available

Yes. You should be thinking that the store return policy allows you to return defective products, and you should DO THAT.

If it's DOA, it goes straight back to the store. I don't care what it says in the box. They can keep the POS and I'll have my money back.
