So the TV is basically defective. Can I send the TV back at the Seller's expense and demand a refund? Can I file a claim with paypal to get my money back? Does paypal do chargebacks if the item is defective? The TV does have a warranty on it, but it would cost me $50 to ship it to the manufacturer. Should I demand money from the seller for shipping fees?

If it cost $50 to have it repaired, I would assume that it would be cheaper and easier for you to have it repaired.
And also less headache.. and give the user a negative feedback..

If the seller is not willing to help you out, he knows he started a shady deal. Ask him to pay the repair costs + shipping, or demand a full refund and return it.

Otherwise, get it repaired yourself and leave him - feedback.

There are no repair costs, it is covered by the manufancuter. The only costs to me would be to ship to the manufacturer, which is around $50

i'd have to go with pay the $50 to have it fixed by the manufacturer, and cut your losses

tell the seller to pay for the repair...if he doesn't, what about the people that shipped it? is there insurance? if not, eat the cost and leave a negative feedback.

Basically what he said. Get it sent off and fixed if it's still under warranty. Demand the shipping costs to have it sent off to get it fixed from the seller and if they don't follow through with paying that, leave bad feedback and make sure you stick it too them. Ebay is just a bunch of crooks these days, I swear.

Man you people are brave buying $2000 TV's off of ebay. I am sure leaving the guy negative feedback will teach the guy a lesson though. Its not like he can easily get another account or anything.

Yeah, but I hope you don't decide not to give him the deserved bad feedback, out of fear that he'll do the same.

If it's covered under warranty, I'd explain to the seller that I'm upset about it, and see if they would refund the shipping costs to get it repaired. Otherwise, I'd send it back to the seller.

If he works with you on this one, he still deserves positive feedback. But at the least resistance, it's negative time.

how the heck would the seller know a brand new tv was working before he shipped it out? If it is used or the ebayer is unauthorized dealer, the warranty might not cover you.

What do you mean the image is *washed out*?

Cheaper LCD Tv's tend to exhibit this with BAD QUALITY FEEDS. Through aerials and such etc.

How is the DVD quality? If THAT is good then it isn't a fault but the LCD itself is like that. The difference between cheaper and more pricey LCD TV is night and day to me. I wouldn't go buy a cheap model. Same goes for Plasma. Big different between a good one and a bad one even if they are 'about' the same price.

What model did you get?

I hope you get it fixed if it is broken.

How was the packaging?

Look at the screws and look for ANY signs to see if it has been opened up already. Any other small marks and such on it?

This might be a dumb question, but have you tried adjusting the contrast?

Most new TV comes with a 90 days in-home service given the seller your bought the TV from is a Authorized E-Tailer. This is the reason why you shouldn't buy TV from Ebay unless they are local.
