I hereby am going to change my meager herd away from the pompous old timers and their project. You want to keep your well known herds in front FINE. Your pathetic attack on the new comers attempt to compete the only possible way many of them can (miniteams) is the last straw. I don't give a flying fsck what the rest of TWTA does anymore. I am going to goto a newer project, one where these old herds do not exist.

I'm not trying to recruit you away or anything, but if your mind's made up about quiting, you could always join us in seti.:) That way you would still be helping TA. We need all the help we can get.:D

Possessed Freak. I strongly believe that miniteams are bad for the competition. I don't have any well-known herd (my output says it all) and it is impossible for me to compete with a whole team.
The main problem is not the teams of members doing up to 5K blocks a day. But when a miniteam is already doing far more than its competitors there is no reason in adding more members.

The DPC (our real competitors) are beating us by 1,000,000+ blocks per day.....

Something to think about...

P.S. I like the [Edit] function too...The Federation, like any other Team Anandtech member, does care about the team as a whole...We donated valuable blocks to the OGR team because we want Team Anandtech to be #1 in all projects....PERIOD!!! I could care less if we are #1 in the stats on OGR...Just that we are gaining or winning:) It's nice to jump up in RC5 once and a while, but it's not meant to slap others in the face. We're all here for the same reason...I think...

PF,
As an semi-old-timer (been cracking for ~1.5 years) and a newer member of TWTA, I do understand your frustration concerning the issues around mini-teams. I will hope that you can calm down a bit and hang in there. You are one of the reasons I decided to join TWTA, and I would hate to see you go. :(

I will respect your decision either way, and if you can't find a way to hang in there at least until we beat /., then I wish you the best.

It saddens me when I see anyone from the team leave, especially someone who has done so much. You may consider your herd to be small, but I consider your contributions to be great. :)

I hope you continue to hang out on IRC, and the gamebox. I always enjoy playing UT with you. :)

Uh oh... : ( PF, don't quit! You are trying too hard, that's all! Before the mini-teams, we simply raced those we found near us, and did it for the fun of it. Remember the good-natured race to 100k? They were impromptu races for the fun of it, and our main focus was still outwards, toward overtaking Team Warped (OS2) and then Evangelista. I bet this is what The Magicman misses... : \

PF I feel the frustation too. We all work as hard a we can to increase our rate and climb the stats pages. Then all of a sudden we get trampled by a MINIteam from out of nowhere. :( It truly does get dicouraging.
However, Please stay around with TA. I would miss you too.

For now I will continue the pursuit of lower stats numbers. :)

The FACTS clearly indicate the opposite. Even after OGR has siphoned off much cracking power, the RC5 effort is producing 50% more blocks than we were when I joined in May.

If you want to argue against mini teams, you'll have to come up with something else.

Camm,

PF FAVORS mini teams. He is part of one. His complaint is against those who have large herds and crack as individuals, and the inability for a little guy to compete. A mini team is a way for him, and others, to do that.

PS:

Possessed Freak,

Stick around. You're one of the few people here who's actually willing to say EXACTLY what's on your mind without worrying about a few tender toes. You might piss me off sometimes, but I'll always respect your gutsiness.:D

RUSS

My fair rate has come about over time. I have been adding friend to this project for the team. This is what everyone for years has been telling us to do for years. Also I suppose I misinterpreted some of what he was saying. ;)

Camm

BTW RUSS,
Glad your Rack is OK. :)

Russ, thanks for that, I honestly post what I say because I would not want to blong to a group of forums that chastise me for my honest opinion. Granted I may be a tad harsh and I do post in anger every once in a while. I make it a point to never edit out my previous posts but there are times (like now) that I wish I never said stuff. I am planning to remain with TA, unless continued hostility exists and I will leave TA and/or D.C.

Excellent news, PF.:) You just keep speaking your mind; in the long run, honesty is always the better alternative.

Adul,

At the rate you're going, you'll soon be competing with the MT's.:D

Camm,
<We all work as hard a we can to increase our rate and climb the stats pages. Then all of a sudden we get trampled by a MINIteam from out of nowhere>

I work hard as I can to increase my keyrate, then someone new comes along with a major keyrate and tramples me, and no way I can catch up.

I work hard as I can to increase my keyrate, then a mini-team new comes along with a major keyrate and tramples me, and no way I can catch up.

What in the heck is the difference in those 2 statements?

What if the someone in the first example has talked 20 people into cracking RC5 on their PCs, but using one email addy, and that is how their keyrate shot up?

What if the person in the second example has talked 20 people into cracking RC5 on their PCs, but using one email addy, only 10 of them are already members?

I still get passed, and there was nothing I could do about it in either case.

The only difference I see is that in the second example, the net keyrate for Team Anandtech is smaller due to some being existing members.

Why can't mini-teams be treated just like anyone else that has a bigger herd than you? Just give em a friendly wave as they pass by, and then ignore them and go about doing the very best for the team. Whether that is 10 blocks a day, or 80K a day. Each member contributes to the best of their abilities. :)

And I don't want to hear about "it's not fair". Life isn't fair. Is it fair that I don't have the funds to upgrade the Cely300A@450 I'm on to the duely setup I would like, while I see other members getting 1Gmhz Athlons and using them in crackracks? No, it's not fair, but SO WHAT, again life is not fair! Deal with it! :Q

And the arguement about "Well I've worked hard to assimilate x number of PCs, and then a mini-team..." Don't you think that each member of that mini-team has done their very best and worked just as hard to improve their own herd and keyrate too?

And everyone is doing it for what?
To get Team Anandtech to #1 and fend of the DPCs!

That should be every member's primary objective, the TEAM goal. :)

Do what I do. If a member (or mini-team) passes me, I try to wave, and then go about concentrating on doing my very best for the team. :)

We are all in this together, OK? :D

Heck, I've had my doors blown off by mini-teams, corporate herds and crack-rackers. I think it's great because they're all cracking for TA!

Ray - I agree with everything you said. There is no way I could have expressed it any better.
If everyone had your demeanor there would be less arguments in this forum. :)
