i was watching dr. jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull (the dr. jones movies show what a good imagination steven spielberg more than any of his other good if a bit overrated works imo... maybe i am just biased against lincoln because there was nothing quite like the conspirator) yesterday. anyway, when i was watching it, two things stood out in my mind as much as anything else i observed:
1. in it, dr. jones seemed just like he did in Hal Barwood's the Fate of Atlantis as well as his 1999 underrated masterpiece the infernal machine (unfortunately, there really are no drivers today though that plays it perfectly if i am not mistaken plus i am not sure how reliable it is in 64 bit versions of windows).
2. the lead protagonist in the emperor's tomb seems nothing like harrison ford's dr. jones or the dr. jones in the hal barwood games. the dude in the emperor's tomb is just too phony at least as far as i am concerned. i mean, the guy in the emperor's tomb walks as if he doesnt even have a board up his ass.
so all of that means i need to ask... why was the dr. jones in the hal barwood games so real while 2003's the emperor's tomb used a phony?
and of course i realize that i am, myself, phonier than the lead protaganist in the emperor's tomb as well as al gore[1] (and even hillary clinton) ... all three of whom each have one to two more bones of emotion in their bodies than i do in my own (i hate myself for my inherent lack of emotion and the fact that my feelings for other people are so artificial), but still.
[1] yesterday, i saw the cover of his book called the "assault on reason" and could have died from laughing... i just wish i could figure out whether he named it that because he cant think ahead, because he was trying to take a moderate position, or if he was just trying to be funny, or because he was trying to do something else i cant imagine.
