I believe I acquired food poisoning; any means to expedite the healing process?

I'm feeling reaaaaaaally horrible. I believe the source to be some bbq I ate for lunch yesterday. I've been unable to sleep since. I'll feel ok for about an hour, then it comes back... violently :(

Any ideas as to what I can do to soothe my stomach, remove the feeling of nausea, etc.?

Thanks all.

Depends what's wrong, are you throwing up or are you having bad poopoo. If you're throwing up, then it shouldn't last too long, 1/2 day or so, but if you're poopooing a lot, then don't eat too much, and drink a lotta liquids (sprite/root beer, non caffeinated) to get your carbs and fluids running through your system.

Tums/Rolaids might ease the pain for a bit, but other than that just have a lot of fluids ready

Only throwing up right now...

I've thrown up at least 25 times or so; one would think that whatever I had eaten would be gone by now.

I think I'll run to the store and get something to drink as you guys suggested... thanks!

i had it when the pizza joint didn't cook the sausage all the way.

I just moaned and groaned in the fetal position on the floor for a bit. I felt better after.

Drink lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of WATER. And eat lots and lots and lots and lots of BROWN RICE. (not white!)

Do NOT take something to soothe your stomach like Imodeon or Pepto. You will prolong the sickness, if you are puking you need to puke till you are better. Throwing up is how your body is getting rid of the poison. If you take something to ease it you will extend the sickness at least 48 hours longer than it would last otherwise.

Goodluck. As a guy prone to unusually terrific and spectacular hangovers I feel I have a special understanding with you on how awful it is to throwup constantly like that.

Thanks for the comments guys. I haven't thrown up in a little while now, but I still feel like I could at any moment.

I'm definitely laying off the bbq for a while...

After the poisoning episode has passed, some mint tea (perppermint or spearmint) with a little honey for sweetening may help.

After that, when you are eating again, some yogurt (containing acidolphilus - friendly living cultures) may help restore your digestive balance more quickly.
