I been have some trouble with my heart these past two days... How do I know if this warrants seeing a doctor?

It started last night (Saturday) after dinner. I suddenly felt a sharp, stinging pain radiating for my lower heart area... I wasn't sure if it was from the heart or my stomach (since I just ate), so I dismissed it as digestive trouble.
However, later that night, when I was almost asleep, I suddenly felt my heart beat become very noticiblly abnormal - it started to just randomly jump around with out rhythm... At the same time, the INSIDE of my neck (on my left side) suddenly felt very cold, and the coldness seemed to radiate... After about 5 seconds, my heart rate returned to normal, and the neck coldness dissolved within a minute.
I think this was a case of arrhythmia, which I have a family history of, but I never heard of a sharp coldness accompying the irregular heartbeat. Anyways, it was late, and I was sleepy, so I didn't bother to do anything about it.

Today, starting about 2 hours ago, I started to feel something again in the heart region - but I can't decide what I'm feeling, or if I am feeling the heart or my stomach... It's not pain - just a "feeling" that something is there... Should I go to the emergency room now?

I never heard of people my age and weight (I'm 15, 110 lbs and 5'8") have heart trouble before... Is this serious?

Thanks for all your help.

I'm not even going to read it.

Whenever you question something about yourself, go see a doctor, don't ever 'wait for it to go away'..

whoa strange, it might've just been mental since you're young and the heart thing from earlier might've stayed in your thoughts until you were half asleep and maybe partially dreaming.

In any case, GO SEE A DOCTOR. Better safe than sorry.

Wedesdo,

There isn't much that's more serious than heart trouble. When I was about 11 or 12 I had extremely sharp pains in my heart as well, and shortness of breath, I felt like I was going to die. My mother rushed me to the emergency room where I was given an IV and some codeine to help ease the pain. Once I had been there for a while, they gave me an EKG and said I had a slight heart murmur at the time, but I left the hospital that night. I haven't had trouble since but you should definitely go in for some X-rays and possibly an EKG. If it gets worse, it would be infinitely more serious than it is now. Being that it's late Sunday, it seems the emergency room would be your only option. I'd go as soon as possible if I were you.

Pretender - I KNOW it's not a dream - I was FULLY awake when it happened... I even asked my self after if it was a dream or not... and it was positively not a dream...

I just wonder if it's normal to have a sporadic incident like this...

Get it checked out ASAP. But to keep you calm it could also be many things, so don't get worrying too much yet.

I have chostochondritis, which is an inflamation of the cartilage inbetween the rib cage, it mimics a heart attack REALLY WELL, and there is no cure :(

But, you wont die from it, just feels like you will . (fun)

It is quite possible that there is nothing wrong. But you should not wait. Stop reading these posts and go tell your mom NOW.

I wouldn't go to a doctor just yet.
I'd wait until my whole right side became paralyzed, and I was gasping for breath.

Yes, definitely go see a doctor ASAP. Just because you're 15 doesn't mean you can't have a heart condition (or any other condition, for that matter).

I'm 15, and every once in a while I get sharp heart pains. They go away rather quickly, but sometimes I wonder wtf is going on.

I haven't had the neck prob though...
