I baked brownies using the recipe on the box, baked for 30 minutes, only used a cup cake pan, was intending little mini brownies. Instead the pic is what I got.

Not sure what happened, never seen anything like it. They are brick hard and have a glassy smoothness. SO was laughing at me, referencing the beverly hillbillies and Elly May biscuits.

You really need to use a brownie pan or just a glass baking dish. You basically glazed the sugar in them.

30 minutes was for a 8" x 8" pan NOT a cupcake pan. 12 to 15 minutes at sea level for the cupcake pan.

I included the eggs, oil and water just like the box said. It is like Spidey said. They are like rock candy.

Hrm, anyone have a recipe for mini -brownies ?

Clearly, your system doesn't have enough estrogen in it for you to be able to bake properly.

So you altered the recipe but kept the same time? So did your girlfriend just let you do it? She's just as stupid as you are.

Thanks

Earlier today I picked on her because she couldn't get the tv remote to work, she had the wrong remote, from the other room, they look identical , but she was still a bit upset at me after we ate. I asked her what was for dessert and she said nothing, in that kind of, I'm still pissed tone. So I told her I would fix dessert, she laughed and joked about it so this was my attempt to show her I could cook as good as her.

I'm okay with general cooking, but not baking. But I thought its a box recipe, what could go wrong.

I failed !

Still it got both of us laughing and the ill tones we had are gone.

Don't you see?

Now she will know you can't cook and will offer to make more meals for you.

So it's a win in the long term.

That's the right answer. You GREATLY increased the surface area, so they were getting a lot more heat. You created hockey pucks. If you try it again start checking the brownies at 10 minutes and take them out at 12 even if they look a little underdone. They're continue to cook from the heat the pan is holding.

I once made a box of brownies but kept getting dry lumps still so I kept stirring and stirring the mix. I mixed it too long.. I ended up with a soft candy-like brownie.. It wasn't really edible..
