You cannot enter your bios in windows....
Check with your computer manuf. Usually f12 or delete

On the thousands of Dell Optiplex GX280s at school, we hit F2 to get into the BIOS.

Unless it's a Toshiba or IBM laptop - the keyboard generates some SMI interrupt, which can take precedence even in protected-mode, and because it's a laptop with relatively fixed hardware, the SMI handler can save/restore the state of the keyboard and video controller quite well. Try it, you might be surprised.

I work at a computing site with 250 Optiplexes and 200 PowerMac G5 Dual-2.0GHz. 🙂
