Yeah I am always on the search to save a buck at Best Buy...9/10 times it involves going thru some hoops such as sending in some rebates or pricematching with another store. All to often I have to raise my voice or have someone raise their voice to me...sometimes both.

Today I went into BB to buy something that is priced differently at different stores....apparantly price adjustments for their markets.
In any case I was not happy that this item was not marked down ..asking for some reason was foolish because I got the response "Umm so do you want to buy it or not?...the price is $XXX." They simply cannot discuss anything further than the price. This girl says back to me with a little attitude. ...."sorry we couldn't help you" I told her that she was as dumb as a brick and I left.

5 min later the manager came up to me and threatened to call the cops and told me to leave the store and stated that I cannot talk to his employees that way.
Apparantly I made the girl cry.
I wanted to bring up how rude some of his employees are but I realized I was on his turf and he just decided to let me have it. I kept my mouth shut and said I was sorry.

Looking back I now want to cut up my Best Buy card however I guess I now realize that I need Best Buy more than they need me.

I am not gonna fight anymore, I'll pay the marked price , if I don't like the price I will buy it elsewhere.

Fight the Power!!!

And at least you have a Best Buy. There is not anything other than WalMart or Office Depot for at least a 2 hour drive. I guess that's good on my wallet though, but somehow I still don't have any money.

I was once asked to leave a Fry's by the Security guards because I told a sales associate he was full of crap when he was telling a clueless customer a bunch of BS about a CPU. Didn't hurt my feelings a bit because I saved the guy from getting hosed.

A couple more life lessons like that, and you'll count as a "grown up". Just think, mom won't have to drive you to the store anymore!

Something else I noticed is that my shopping experience at BB is not really fun , its just a ruthless deal grabbing all business event.
Funny thing is, Best Buy is the only place I shop that is like that, I shop at alot of other stores its nothing like shopping at BB.

I am going to have to cut up my card or just buy on line from now on because now they are 1 or 2 up on me and I am going to have to put up my guards every time I shop there, I am tolerated but no longer welcome.

Same type of thing was why I stopped shopping at CompUSA. They refused to let me use a credit card with my name on it and said I was suspicious. When I got into an argument with the manager he called the cops. I stayed and carefully explained my case to them. They went into the store and told the manager to quit wasting their time.

How could they not let you use a CC with your name on it? What was their reason that you were suspicious?

Perhaps the "dumb as a brick" comment was a bit too harsh? After all she's just their tool to get you to the counter with your money out. Thats the "free market" philosophy, remember?? Even on the money its says In God We Trust... what they left off was "all others must be verified..." BWAHAHAHAHAhahck ack... < sorry Hairball.....
The trick is to outsmart them, not badger them... hell thats easy.... anyone who can string a+b+c+d=X can get over on most floor sales persons...
SCHMOOZE, Cajole, Wheedle, Deal, FINAGLE.... BUT NEVER EVER INSULT.... it only gets them in a defensive position where they will not want to help you.... and as shown some will want to arrest and otherwise embarass you....
Sometimes the savings in money isn't worth debasing yourself or another person......
Everyone needs to feel OK about what they are doing for their daily bread......

I was 16 at the time and they didn't understand that someone under 18 could have a card as an authorized user on another account. The card said Evan C Hyde(my name) but their argument was that I couldn't have a credit card because I was under 18.

At first the manager tried to confiscate the credit card from me but I told him if he touched me a credit card would be the least of his worries. Like I said, I no longer shop at that place because they hire brainless morons.

It's funny how Best Buy and Circuit City have swapped procedures. It used to be a bitch to return something at CC, but very simple at BB. Now it's the other way around. They rarely have anything cheaper than you can buy online, so I don't know why you even bother with them. I've got both within walking distance, so I do make purchases and returns there once in a while. I don't really care for either store, but I NEVER argue or make a ruckus, yet all my transactions are completed to my satisfaction... ALL OF THEM!

And calling people "dumb as a brick" isn't rude?

some people deserve to be called what they are. if she can't handle some stranger insulting her, maybe she should go hide in her house where mommy and daddy can make her feel special and loved. now we know that not only is she as dumb as a brick, but she's melodramatic too.

You sound like the situation humbled you a little bit. However, have no fear, your same old spirit will be back in a day or so. And no, you don't need Best Buy more than they need you. Without you and thousands of people like you, they wouldn't be in business. It's unfortunate that you you had to brush elbows with some real arrogant people - which lead you to make comments to their employees. But, it sounds like the girl was trying to patronize you with her response.

I like Best Buy and CompUSA. I've never had any trouble there. I generally try to treat their sales people with respect and kindness and they generally treat me the same. I am not the type to try to argue down the price of an item. If I think the price is too high, I just don't buy it -- and I don't get upset about it either.

"dumb as a brick" may be a bit harsh!?! though some employees are under-trained....if you feel they can't help you, ask to talk to someone who can.....insults only bring you to a lower level....

I really hate Compusa cuz those workers are not friendly. I usually like shopping at Best Buy instead at Compusa... Best buy usually accepts pricematch while Compusa refuses and treats me like a criminal. Also, CompUsa forced me to take the driver license out of the wallet to verify C.C. name/signuture even with the cridet card has a photo I.D. and digial signture on it. It's pretty asburb to deal with it again so I quit shopping at CompUsa. I never have any problem with Best Buy... :)

dude, she's just doing what she's told. she probably can't do anything about price adjustments by herself anyway. and if she's not getting "the job done" you should just talk to a manager instead of being a f!cking 'tard to her. let's see. customer wants something questionable. employee questions it. who's dumb as a brick? customer, seeing that employee will not help, continues conversation with employee. who's dumb as a brick? customer, unable to accomplish anything useful, instead turns to insults. who's dumb as a brick? customer has ass rightfully handed to him by manager. who's dumb as a brick?

Ummm... riiiiiiight. You just sound like another prick customer to me. Maybe if you acted nicely instead of like an ass you'd get your price change. Acting like a dick will get you nowhere, no one wants to do anything for people like you. If you act nicely you'll get a lot further in life.

Reason #1 that I think every person should be forced to work retail for a minimum of 3 months out of their life, we wouldn't have situations like this 99% of the time.

Oh, and that girl probably couldn't do much about the price. I know if I am to sell something for lower than what it's marked where I work I have to get a managers approval of it first or it's my ass that's on the line. Sheesh, try treating people with a little decency and respect once in a while, it gets you a lot further.

i've taken my share of insults at kmart when we didn't have something in stock and it certainly doesn't feel good after a while, especially when you're know that you're in the wrong (in terms of being out of the merchandise) and there's nothing you can do but express sincerity and be apologetic.

-=bmacd=-

edit: but not to say that i haven't seen the service desk girls (and women) cry over a customer. We get some real a$$holes.

You sound like an ass. The comment to the cashier was uncalled for. I'm glad to see that the manager cares for his employees. If anything you would owe the cashier an apology for your rudeness.
