I am watching Die Hard.

I can't recall... does it have those silly hollow explosion and gunshot sounds of the 80s too?

I think it was right on the cusp of when they discovered how not to record sound effects in the bathroom with a microphone made of tin cans.

That's one reason I generally can't watch 70's movies. God, how were people so bad at sound effects? How was there only one 'gunshot sound' for a whole fucking decade?!

I watched "a good day to die hard" the other day, maybe it's because I was doing other stuff too (was at work) but the plot seemed all over the place, but there was some fun action scenes.

Another fun movie series is Transporter. These are the types of movies you just have to turn off your brain and enjoy watching stuff blowing up and cars doing things that are probably not even possible.

I've never seen it but I've heard so much. Not sure why, I like Mel Gibson, Mad max and all that.

You have to really understand this era of movies to truley appreciate Die Hard. Long story short, this was the era of Arnold Schwarzanegger and Sylvester Stallone. You had the Conan and Terminator movies on one hand and all the Rambo movies on the other. Almost all of the action stars of the day were ripped and muscular. It was also the time of a lot of martial arts movies and big fight scenes. So here comes Bruce Willis who at that time was a small time TV star with Moonlighting. His hero was a big departure from the action stars of that era. I think that is why this movie went over as well as it did. You got the average guy using his wits to outsmart the bad guys. Also during this time the bad guys in this movie were a lot smarter than the average criminals that we were accustomed to in a typical action movie.

No not yet.
But i had seen so much DS9 i got tired of it.
Tomorrow i start again with the next episode. 🙂

Finish watching DS9. Or we'll no longer be friends.

Or in case we weren't already, then we won't become friends.

In any case, please be my friend. :'(

how old are you?

24. I knew Lethal Weapon 4 since early childhood and always liked it, but the original was just so weak. I have a hard time remembering why I didn't like it now, except that I seem to remember some kidnapping/hostage bullshit, that the Christmas themes were irritating, and that by the end I wished Gibson had pulled the trigger like the whiny bitch he is.

Wait. I must be retarded but also partially psychic. I have never seen Die Hard and was thinking of the original Lethal Weapon the whole time, despite saying "Die Hard" in my first post and "Lethal Weapon" in my second, but apparently the former is set around Christmas as well. I don't know what is wrong with me. Can this even be called dyslexia?

I have Die Hard on Blu Ray and it looks and sounds great on my HTPC with 5.1 surround.

such an awesome action movie!

I prefer the term "brain fart".
