I am wanting a new system with Q6600 have an ATI AIW 9800 card
would you recommend to get an Asrock board or spring for a new video card and get a P35 board? is saving that money going to limit me enough to regret not getting the P35?

I am also interested in HDTV digital card are there any out that are good and catch cable or satellite HDTV to make it worth getting a P35 board? If yes which board is best for that?

It all depends on

1. Do you plan to overclock?

2. Do you play games?

3. If games, are the games more graphically intense then WOW?

If no to all 3, then get the cheapest MB you can find that supports Q6600. Asrock will be fine.

If yes to 1 but no to 2 and 3, then it is worth getting a p35 but you also need a good CPU cooler.

If no to 1 but yes to 2 and 3, then you would want someting better than a Radeon 9800. Minimum get a 8800 320mb GTS to play almost 99% of games out there.

If no to yes to all 3 then you need a good motherboard (p35), a good video card (8800 gts) and good CPU cooler.

Finally, if you are super rich, then buy top of the line everything.

It sounds like he wants to build a HTPC, which I think www.avsforum.com (sub-forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=26/ ) is the best place to start.

9800 seems pretty underpowered, even for moderately basic stuff these days though. I'd say to get a 2600HD if you're not doing gaming at all because it supports some of the video decoding in-hardware, but honestly this isn't a topic I'm up on. The forum above is probably the best place to start.

I had never over clocked before and am not a game player I use several applications at once and may have quite a few windows open in IRC chat. I use some Photoshop, and some burning DVDs, CDs, and and am interested in watching HDTV on a video card if I do not use my present All in wonder 9800 card and discover that HDTV digital card is available for cable or satellite.
