NO those fan settings are not optimal. Add some more steps and make it so that at 75-80 deg C the fan will hit 100%

This is how I set my fan speeds up.

X1900XT with the stock cooler which has now been replaced with something better (see project log link in sig) I know the video card/cooler is different but I still recommend this for your X1800XL.

I am not an expert when it comes to cooling components but don't you think that these settings are too low.

Shouldn't the fan be spining more then 27% at 50C.

Are you sure that is an okay way to set thouse fan settings.

IMO, anything over 70C on a video card is just too much. So anything over 70C should be 100% but on some systems I guess It's ok to lower the fan speeds to that level at that temperature.
Just don't pay any attention to me, I have 2 VF-700's so noise isn't an issue to me and reall has never been.

I don't have a prob with noise also i just want to play my games and not fry my card at the same time.

But mine idles arround 58-60C when i set it to 45%.

Any other ATI guys out there that use ATI TOOL, could you please tell me what setting you have.

just set the fans at 50% then ad 10% for every 10c increase, making 85c and higher the 100% point. my card idles at 44-45c at 50% and I have mine set just as I described. good luck
