"Final written statement of T.McVeigh"

Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole
.....
....
I am the master of my fate
I am the catain of my soul

Isn't it a pitty that this beautiful poem was misused by this person? Maybe it gave comfort to his tormented soul.

Death was the easy way out in my opinion. I think he should have been someone's b!tch for the rest of his life...

Here's the full text....

"Invictus"

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

-Written in 1875 by William Ernest Henley

As a side note...this has been my favorite poem for years. In fact I was planning on having it engraved on my tombstone. Have to rethink that now that Timothy McDirtbag has tainted it.

I actually heard he did not read this. He had prepared it, but was silent with no last words during his execution. Witness' say he had a slight look of fear in him.

"...My head is bloody, but unbowed."

You know what that line reminds me of? Not of Timmy lying under clean white sheets with a needle sanitarily inserted into his vein. That line reminds me of little Baylee Almon, the 1-year-old child in this famous and heartbreaking photo .

Using that poem as his last statement, he was basically saying he would do it all over if he had the chance and that he still believed that what he did was right in his head.

That guy was nuts. And the scary thing is, there's a hundred more where he came from. Terrorism is more resilient and subversive than communism ever was. Atleast with the cold war, we knew where the enemies were.

What sucks about that is that the quote was the exact same one used by my graduating class!! :(

If you like the poem, don't let McVeigh ruin it for you.

I think McVeigh used that poem wisely. I don't think he is crazy at all, he is just about the most determined and unweilding person I've ever known. However, this can be very dangerous if the man who has this "unconquerable soul" happens to be on the wrong side. He took matters into his own hands, which is highly looked upon in American folklore. However, once again, this is all too dangerous to those whose ideas run perpendicular to the norm. Even though he is dead, I still think he won his "battle", if you can call it that....:(

I chose not to pay any attention to this rubbish, Im so tired of the media hyping everything up and putting a camera in everyones face I could scream. Call me insensitive, but I wont give CNN my money for a decscription about what a dead man looked like before he died, its just plain rubbish. Who honestly cares? Thats sadistic.

*prepares for the fires of hell*

Am I alone here?

They should've put McVeigh in a labor camp, together with everybody else on Death Row.

BTW I hope that the next terrorist attack in the US (which can't take much longer now) won't lead to too many casualties.
