My Adelphia cable went down for a few hours, when it came back up, my main rig wouldn't connecto to the net. It worked fine on the local network tho, and shared files and all. So i uninstalled rthe NIC, anf reinstalled it, i also reset the cable modem and router. It is still not working, I have no clue what to do.

I also have ipconfig /renew and everything.

Any ideas?(excluding bad cables😉)

Power off your cable modem for 30 seconds and then power off your computer for 30 seconds.

Depending on your OS, there is a good chance that when you uninstalled and then later reinstalled your NIC drivers, that your proper TCP/IP settings were overwritten with the defaults. This is most likely the case, so find your Cable Internet documentation and verify that it is all setup right.

If that does not work, there is a chance that your ISP is still down.

Have you called them to see if they can assist you?

You really should not have uninstalled your NIC.

Good luck!

1, i got it working

2, didnt you see i had a network? it is hooked up to a router, and all my other PCs were fine. Upon the 20th reboot, it finally worked. Shady bil gates

You didn't mention that your other pcs were accessing the internet just fine. You did, however, mention that the network was ok, which I took to mean that the pcs could see each other. So 20 reboots later, you go the main box back up? The problem is, you don't know the root cause, so when it happens again your only hope now is to reboot 20 times and hope for the best.

When the problem occurred, could you ping the router from this pc?
