1. You definitely need to hook up with headphones or speakers in order to hear the auto-tune effect clearly
2. It's a bit like karaoke as the lyrics will pop up as you need to sing them
3. There's a freestyle mode so you can auto-tune anything
4. Auto-tune is customizable by key and you can have 4 presets
5. It records everything you do with built-in uploading to facebook/myspace/smule/email and you can save/replay recordings
6. You get 5 songs and 3 generic beats to start out with. Premium songs (2 as of right now) are $0.99 and there's a pack with 3 other songs for $1.99
I personally don't mind T-Pain's songs and found myself laughing at how ridiculous I sounded. I'm sure it'll be much more fun once I get friends involved, though I can't say for certain that I enjoy being nickled and dimed for new content, so it may end up getting old.
Is it worth $3? If you find yourself singing along with T-Pain when his songs comes on the radio, it probably is. If you think you can use the auto-tune for things other than T-Pain music, like auto-tuning the news, possibly. I know I'll get some laughs from my friends so I'm OK with dropping 3 dollars for it, even if it gets old quick. I'll just skip coffee one day to make up for it.
