I am switching to Verizon Wireless, what phone should I get?

Well, after a very happy 4 year run with Sprint I want to move to VZW because they seem to offer better deals. So what phone should I get?

I like those flip phones.
I want internet on it.
Good batter life.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks,

dam(can you squeak me now?)

V600, if they have it.
nope, they dont have the v600, but they are releasing the v710 soon.

edit: now with 100% more link-age!
I'd say the v710, since its soon to be available.

I just switched to verizon and got the Audiovox CDM 8900 for $100 after rebate. Its a nice phone. I bought a pc connector cable off ebay for $15 shipped, used some software called bitpim to change out a few things that were annoying, and I can put custom wallpapers on it, take the pictures off of it onto my pc at no charge, custom ringtones (convert mp3s to a lower quality and shorten the length to save on space, then rename it to a .mid and it works like a charm)

I like it....but I'd have to say v710 for the bluetooth.

What's a good Verizon cell phone if I want it to be a flip phone, use for internet connection with my laptop via IR port, good battery life, and not have bluetooth.

nothing yet, just rumors and speculations. but im willing to bet it isnt going to be too cheap when it first releases, but after a month or so, it should lower in price a bit or come with a rebate. ill prolly buy it the day it comes out and go back for a price adjustment if that does occur.

If the above requirements are all you are after then you can get the LG VX6000.

I have it and it does all you mention. But there are things that I want, that I did not realize I would miss, until after I got this phone. I would suggest that you look at all phones and their features before deciding... there might be something that you want that you do not mention above that will come to mind while you browse all the phones.

If I had to pick one today just from browsing around I would pick the 7000. Looks pretty cool.

i agree. if i was in your shoes, and i was going with vzw today, id be looking at the vx7000 also. ive heard really good things about it, and im an lg fan. the only problem is that the charging mechanism on it (the cradle can be a hassle to carry around at times, and after a year or so, the phone has troubles charging correctly on the cradle because of the connectors on the battery get worn down). but other than that, the phone functions like a gem and is dependable. but im still stalling out for a v710 :D

edit: does any1 who own the 7000 know if it still uses the cradle, or did lg finally go with a corded solution?

oh yes. The Audiovox 8900 has speakerphone as well. An option I'd never thought I'd use but I use it a lot more than I anticipated.

Also if the camera is important to you, the 8900 only has a 0.3 megapixel camera (as does all other camera phones at the moment) but soon to be released is the 8920 which has a 1.3 megapixel camera on it.

btw, for battery life. I tend to charge it everynight, just because. But with average to heavy usage it gets about 2 days worth without needing a charge (that is, skip a night's charge)

Cell phone camera pictures I've seen haven't impressed me. So I don't think I'll need that feature. I know I don't need bluetooth because my laptop doesn't have bluetooth so I'd have to carry around a bluetooth adapter. If I'm going to carry a bluetooth adapter, I might as well just carry around a cord to connect the phone to the laptop. Hmm, I guess there are bluetooth handsfree headsets. hmm, maybe blueooth goes back on the list. I dunno. I understand that the v710 is the only bluetooth verizon phone.

What other uses are there for bluetooth besides pc connectivity and hands free headset?

Where'd you get that phone? eBay?

I need a new Verizon phone also, and after all the craploads of problems I have had with my Motorola T720, i don't plan on going with another Moto again. I've been looking at the VX7000 as well as the Samsung A670, which are probably the best Verizon phones now, but that Sanyo looks mighty sweet.

car. like the acura tl has built in bluetooth, so when a call comes in, the phone can turn down/mute your stereo, and the call comes in through the speakers, and the phone can be physically in your trunk. you can also dial while driving just using your voice, and it shows the number of the person calling on your dash and how many reception bars you have. its becoming more and more common, and i anticipate more manufacturers implementing this in their vehicles designs. there are other uses for bluetooth, but this was quickest one i could pull off the top of my head.
