... stupid @#$#@% garage door stuck at 75% open .. gave it more than usual time to open before i reversed ... stupid @$#%$^% garage door got stuck ...

the damage to X5 .. only the little black plastic that covers the rear wiper joint ... now to find my BMW cds to find the part number ... no other scratch or damage to X5 .. the wipers working fine ...

as for the door .. need to replace the entire lower section 🙁 ... no estimate yet ... sorry for the rant ...

UPDATE: estimate is $475 ... 3 days to get the section ... 🙁

My co-worker just did something similar. Her niece lives with her and is normally gone to school by the time my co-worker leaves. So she pulls out of the garage and guns it out of her driveway, as she always does, except her niece's car was in the driveway because she was off of school. You can probably figure out the result.


My response for both situations: You don't look before you backup? 😕

When I was married... my ex was building a new back gate that included two giant brick pillars. It took him ages to get it done... cause he only worked on it sporadically... an afternoon a month or so.

I got accustomed to seeing it at a certain level for weeks at a time.

One morning... you guessed it... I was backing out of the garage really quickly and it was higher and wider than the last time I had backed out. I tumbled 3 feet of 'almost dry' bricks.

My sister did the exact same thing years back, just when I was heading out the door for school... she got the garage door stuck, and I was late for school

shoot .. Ime's estimate was ~$900 ... i hope mine is less than that ... called overhead doors .. they are charging $59 to just visit and estimate .. its a double ... insulated .. raised panel ... no pics yet ... they gave us a time frame for their visit ..12 to 4 🙁 ... AAAAgghhhh!

plus i am sure that 25 cent plastic cover part will cost $12 at the dealer 🙁

Does the wiper come down from above or come up from the bottom? If it's at the top of the window, I can understand how this would happen, because it's possible that you wouldn't even see the door if you looked back.

comes up from the bottom ... so i have no excuses ... my wife was actually giggling ... this is something that happens to OTHER stupid people 🙁
