I decided to roast my 12lb turkey tonight for my GF and myself. Just a simple dinner for the both of us. For a side dish my GF wanted french fries.

I used a Utility Grade bird and it was only missing a wing. I threw some seasonings - salt, pepper, sage, savory, thyme, etc... some garlic powder and some paprika - on it and a few cups of water.

I cooked it for 3 hours @ 325F and it was very tender and juicy.

I am now very full and quite impressed with myself. LOL.

I can hardly wait for turkey sandwiches.

:awe:

I look at a 12 pound turkey as dinner for me and the wife, sandwiches for lunch one day, and a feast for the cats. :)

12 lb turkey's are great for us. its just enough for 2 kids and 2 adults.

I love turkey. one of my favorite things to eat. yumm.

Doesn't hurt that turkey is one of the cheapest (decent) meats out there.

this.

12 lbs is more than adequate. Besides, my roast pan maxes out at a 20lb bird.

Hell, I may go see about getting another cheap utility bird. I know there are lots of unsold turkeys.
