I'm ashamed to admit it, but I am browsing the forums via AOHell.

*hangs head in shame*.

Mods, no! Before you ban me, please let me explain! My roommate, though functionally computer literate, grew up using AOHell to connect to the Internet. After quite a bit of pestering, I finally allowed this abomination to be installed on my computer (what it did to my settings would make all of you cringe in pain).

I decided tonight, after a few too many Keystone Premiums, that I might as well get it over with. I popped a '500 free hours' CD into my machine (I think even the neighbors could hear its screams of pain) and installed the software.

I talked to an AOHell rep on the phone, and she assured me that it is free for him to use a TCP/IP connection with his screen name from his parents' account. I figured, "What the hell, while I'm at it, I might as well use the free trial for a few days to see what this 'AOHell thing is all about'".

I understand that none of you will respect me ever again. All I ask is that you please forgive me, and keep in mind that I am only human, and humans make mistakes.

I feel like I'm using a MacIntosh. WTF? Is this supposed to be "user-friendly"? How do I get to the 'Internet'? Where are my favorites? Mail Center? WTF is that? Nothing makes sense; it's as if my computer has been taken over by the warm-and-fuzzy care bears.

Good Lord, what have I done?!?

I find this news very disturbing. I work my butt off to keep as many of my customers away from AOL as possible, only to find that a man of your technological sophistication has succumbed to the siren call of free hours? I'm not sure if I can handle this.

I'll forgive you reitz. But, I think the real issue here is..."Can you forgive yourself?" Can you live with the torture and ridicule you will place upon yourself? My first BSOD in a full month. It's the first time since I reformatted that the OS has crashed.

Now it's trying to make itself the default browser, email client, and newsreader. They decided that my credit card wasn't valid (used my bank's debit card, couple hundred in the account as of this afternoon), so I hope I'm safe.

NOW IT'S MAKING NOISES!!!! I keep getting 'private messages' inviting me to porno chat rooms. WTF? I just want my computer back...

Please forgive me for my transgressions.

BTW, don't knock Keystone; it tastes pretty good, and for $4.75/six of pounders, i'm not going to complain (keep in mind I live in PA, where the only place you can buy beer is a bar or a liscensed beer distributor.)

And that's only the beginning of the things that you'll find in your email! Hahahahahahaha! My friends have AOL (I tried to get them off, honest) and they get the craziest sh!t. I have to say that in my brief, 3-hour-span as an AOHell member, I COMPLETELY SUPPORT THE ADMINISTRATOR'S DECISION TO BAN AOHELL FROM THIS FORUM. If someone is willing to subject himself to this torture, he does not deserve the privellage of being an Anandtech member.

Because a rational person knows how a computer works.I use it 8 hours a day five days a week and have no problems with it.No bsods.No setting itself as default(you have to do that yourself by clicking yes).No porno invites.No spam email.I have a few complaints about it but I have a few complaints about pretty much any program I have used.
