I cook for a living and in the last 5-6 years the flood of Mexican immigrants has really overrun my industry. I used to see like 25-35% of the crew being Mexican nationals, these days I am the only American in the kitchen.
now don't get me wrong I am not a racist person and actually like Mexicans and other races, BUT when you are the only white guy they try to make it hard enough on you to make you quit and recently at least the management supports them.
I actually feel bad for them as they get paid much less than I do, like 2-3 dollars an hour less. The management loves them as they work for peanuts and will work straight through with no breaks and don't try to stand up for their rights.
even the legal ones are afraid of deportation so humble down and take unlimited crap from management.
I have lost 2 jobs in the last year and am currently at risk of losing my current one at the Anaheim ca convention center over the same problem.
the situation is that management wants more Mexicans so is pushing and treating me to just quit. they would love to replace this whiny white boy with a quiet slave that cannot even speak English and therefore cannot complain.

am I wrong here do I have to try at 45 years old to change careers?

please help me see some sense in this.

Don't quit - put up with all their sh1t. If they do end up firing you, go to the state labor board, and complain the company is hiring lots of illegals. At the very least they might get some fines.

America needs to crack down on illegals stealing GOOD American jobs (let them pick as many blueberries as they want). I like them, they're hard working people.... but we need to support our own before we worry about everyone else.

OP: You have my sympathy. We have immigrants flooding our country all the time. The worst part is they receive all the UK benefits and just leech off of our society. It?s all paid for via our tax, MY TAX!! Ohh, and yeah, most of them can hardly speak word of English.
