People next door have 2 female cats, sisters, neither are fixed, we'll have lived here 1 year in august, they've each had 2 litters in that time.

These cats are sweethearts, they visit me,sleep on the wicker chairs on my porch, they come running when they see me because I keep a supply of treats for them.

A couple nights ago, I see one of them with an obviously broken leg and possible shoulder injuries. I couldn't get her out from underneath the car she hid under. I told the owners, they got their hands on her, enough to know she was hurt.. then they say that they couldn't get her in the house.

Today I see only one sad looking cat lounging on my porch, I ask about the other cat.

"We're hoping some good samartin found her and took her to the vet"

they've got 2 kittens from the last litter that they're keeping.. neither fixed.

WTF is wrong with people? :|

..all too often the accident of birth creates victims of circumstance.

I can see why you are so angry. I would feel the same way and hate when people don't either fix their animals if they are going to let them roam outside or they keep them inside not fixed where they can't have more kittens. We already have enough that is sad to see even more. We took in a cat one of my cousins let roam outside and really did not take care of. He is such much happier now.

Don't ever go to the Pets section on Craigslist. The way pets are treated there will even make you more angry.

People wanting free kittens and then reposting them for a fee.
People wanting a free kitten for their little daughter and then posting later that their daughter got bored with it so they're adopting it out again.
People constantly breeding their pets to sell the litters.
People who get a pet and immediately post about needing to get rid of it b/c someone in their family is allergic or their landlord won't let them have it.
People getting rid of their senior pets b/c they get along with the new puppy/kitten they just got.

I would offer to have the remaining cat fixed and get her some shots, her name is Cotton and she's the sweetest little thing but how do you do that without seriously offending the neighbors, besides, fixing Cotton does nothing to address the 2 new up and coming unfixed kittens they kept.

I can't offer to adopt her, we have one cat who's almost 2 and would freak out over another adult cat being brought in.

fwiw - if you post on craigslist, there are a number of people that can direct you to low-cost spay services. I believe some are even mobile and go to particular towns on a listed schedule.

Just do it and don't say anything. Will be better for the cat in the long run and it is not like they have to know. Why should they care anyway it is not like you are going to kidnap the cat.

Since when are YOU worried about offending someone?

Seriously, it won't do anything to protect the other cats from cars, either. :(
