Not only was I stalled for hours on end getting new WU's, Now MSN explorer is down cant even sign in had to go through a back door to get in here. I am having a bad night!!! Anyone got any good news?

My cable modem started losing upstream SYNC about every 3 minutes for the past hour! 🙁

Not sure what's causing...will wait and call a tech out if it continues! gRRRRRR! :|
 
Engineer sorry to hear that. I cant even get through to MSN as there curcuits are all busy and have been for a few hours now. I tell ya its the full moon. But factor5 was good enough to open his quech(sp) and I hm able to crunch on.
 
Something is going on out there. I'm trying to d/l the Medal of Honor demo (175 MB :Q), and I'm getting only about 60-65 KB/s from File Planet. I never go below 180, and it's usually closer to 300 on a typical night.
 
DSL having same problems I was spying. They claim that getting WUs from cache is faster than getting stright from Berkley. Maybe so...
 
Yes...once set up on the TeAm Cache (OK's SETIQueue.... Orangekid.teamanandtech.com on port 5001 under the proxy settings of SETIDriver), you'll have a nice supply of WU's and they will send directly to OK's....his Queue will then wait until it can send to send the WU's to Berkeley!..

You can also use other Queues....see Orangekids site for details..

There is definitely some strange karma floating around out there.

My cable modem went out about 6pm. Called up tech support and they said it was shut off for non-payment. :Q
I've been on checking account autopay since I had it installed in Sept. 1999!! Soo...I double-check the last couple of bank statements and, lo and behold, the @Home charge isn't there (last few months have been a little on the crazy side so it slipped by me).

Anyway...call up and pay the amount and the woman says it will be on in a few minutes. That was 90 min. ago!

Soo...I try MSN as a backup and keep getting authentication failures.

WTF?

Finally...on the 5th dial attempt I get through and Berkeley's still not dishing out WUs (did manage to get one sent up, though). At least I've bumped my caches all around.

Anyone else watching this? Reminds me of The Haunting but better.
 
Bah. I was out to upgrade a friends computer. The hard drive went and toasted itself, so I got another. I get all the ay there to find that I forgot my screwdriver, and had to borrow his. Then I discovered that I forgot the screws to hold in the new hard drive. then I discovered that his keyboard had gone bye bye too. Then after going back home to pick up another keyboard, I got back only to discover I forgot the drivers for his modem!!! Then his display adapter decided to only work on 16 colors. Then I decided I will come back tommorow. too bad for him.

Something wierd is going on tonight, This is very annoying.

My cable downstream speed have halved in the last month, and I can't get 300+KB/sec from anywhere except Microshaft (joy of joys... i'll download 15 copies of IE6 just cos i CAN 😉)

And Berkeley is REALLY REALLY REALLY starting to irritate me hard... :| I have not connected first go now for 2 days!! And that is with 3 separate Q's at 3 separate locations! What's going on!?? (I know the answer to that btw 😀)
 
I totally agree that something weird is going on. I have my own farm (*much* smaller than, say, IndyJaws' 😉) and for the first time in over a year today, I had many clients that could not up/download WUs, even after trying like all afternoon. I have each of them running in a script though and each have tried to connect to Berkeley every 4 minutes, and are continuing to do so. They are, um, acquired resources, so I don't run any other driver, queue, whatever, just the raw SETI clients. That's enough.....besides, I don't even know if they *make* those utilities for HP or Sun OS's...

It has been a frustrating day though. Hopefully tomorrow I'll go in and find everything okey-dokey 🙂 But something definitely wasn't right today...

That is why I always keep a table at the ready in my home office. Problems arise, I tell 'em to bring it to my house. The running back and forth is a killer. 🙁
