Anyone else at work ever get their computer constantly raping their happiness like I do? Working with F**KING IIS I end up having to constantly reboot to re-register this goddamned anti-christ sonofabi*ch .dll and I'm just trying to not look too mad that the people around me think about calling for a shrink.

5.0. I hope that one day MS can bloody well make it such that you don't have to reboot the computer. Shutting down IIS is enough but does that work? Normally not, I have to reboot as well!

I would love to stuff my face with junk food to reduce my anger, but I've vowed to diet for 28 days and they aren't up so I think I'll suck down some caffeine, that normally makes my life feel better hhah

Actually caffeine and loud music hurts but unfortunately IIS has had the best of me this time, i fear my mood will be down the rest of the afternoon and then I'll end up being a race car driver on the way home...er, maybe not its raining.

Actually I'm over the worst of it now, got some tunes on and the thing is working now. This computer makes me manic-depressive. I'm from wanting to bash my head through the monitor a half hour ago to now calling myself a code-guru :)

Right now using Interdev to write some asp which is interfacing with a sql database through a VB COM object. I wish it was all straight asp because its so much bloody faster but they want it done with a COM layer :(

Skoorb: That's one of the reasons .NET looks so cool. From what I understand, you can just drop those components on in there, and you're set. No restarting IIS, no rebooting, nothing like that :)

Anything to make my life easier, while keeping what I do at least mildly difficult so that the high-school kids can't take my job is A-OK with me.

I know your frustration, I've done some ASP app work. When we first wrote it, I needed the code to interface a standard DLL that had no COM interface, so had to write a VB layer between the ASP and DLL. Had to constantly shut the damn thing down because it liked to lock that DLL open and stopping the web server wouldn't always work.

1. Recompile

2. Reboot

3. Re-register

4. Test

Repeat until insane

Finally we dropped the old non-COM DLL and the new DLL I interface has a handy COM interface, so no more VB layer. Woohoo!
