I work on a P!!! 866. When i got to work i turned the computer on, when it was about to load up windows a white colored dialog box came up stating EXPLORER.exe some kinda error.. and i thought hmmm... thats strange.. so i ctrl atl del and rebooted the computer, this time around it loaded perfect. Then i connected to dsl and started working away for 4 hours... before my shift ended i decided to install norton 5.0 and ie 5.5... i rebooted my system and another EXPLORER ILLEGAL OPERATION dialog box popped up
i clicked on details and it said something like

caused by invalid page fault inmodule <unknown> at 0000:bfbfb400

hmm.. would it be possible to install win98 over the existing one? If this were to work would it save all the current settings?(would i have to reinstall drivers and such)? etc..

just insert your win98 cd and run setup over existing install. it will replace your windows. you should be fine.

You could reload Win98, but what got the system to that point is really the question. May or may not work - may want to check memory and system board. Could be a corrupt video driver also.

Hmm, it could've been caused by the known problem with processors above a certain speed (850 I think) and hard drives w/a 2MB cache. Check the microsoft KB for more info, I don't have/can't get a link for you right now (at school, sh!tty connection).

Regardless, reinstalling windows should fix your current problems, and you should check The microsoft knowledge base for the patch for the above problem if it applies to you.
