but hey at least it's not 80' and sunny right?

But then you can't stay home because of the weather. I haven't worked all week due to the cold and the rain. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 10F in the morning and warm up to 25F in the afternoon. Guess what? Another stay at home day for me due to the cold weather. I'm going to relax in my 70F house and eat some good food. This is nice mini-vacation for me.

That's if you work indoors. Then it doesn't matter if it's 0F or 100F. We typically work 10-20 stories high inside/outside. So weather plays a big factor and I'm always checking the weather. It doesn't take snow to shut us down. Cold temp, rain, or wind can be just as effective.

I only remember of one time they actually closed down work here due to a storm, and we all thought it was weird because it was not like it was the first time we had a storm. Only certain departments were allowed to go home though. I was on help desk and we were considered essential so we could not leave but some other departments could leave and the calls came to us instead. For some they'd let some people leave but not everyone.

Most pointless thing ever really. It just made everyone else's day worse while others had a free day off.

Here in Berkeley, CA, winter has pretty much never shown up. The few rain storms we've had came up from the tropics, warm systems. A lot of this "winter" has been as warm as the average summer day, some rather warmer. Last winter was quite a bit warmer than usual, this one has been quite a bit warmer than last winter. We had a day a few days ago when it got to 77 in my yard, another where it reached 80! Yesterday's high was 58, though and the sun never shown, a damned cold spell! Today was much nicer.

I've got my spring planting preparations all done, I've planted my squash, I'd have planted my tomatoes but none of the nurseries have the 6 pack I want, their suppliers are just not geared to getting them out this early.

It's funny that I can buy a house cheaper in CA, the land of no-winters, than in my city that's frozen half the year... And CA has a population greater than my entire country.

I think it's time to euthanize Old Man Winter, and prop up his frozen corpse as a warning.
