I am not Jeffrey Feltsman

...but I have been getting phone calls from law firms and debt collection agencies looking for Jeffrey Feltsman for over a year. I spoke with people, explaining I'm not him, and they always apologize and say they'll update their records and not call me again. But then they call again the next day. 4x per day. After really reaming them out at one point, the calls stopped for months, so I thought I was taken care of. Now they've started again. Again, explaining to them I'm not the guy they're looking for results in an apology, and absolutely not change (just more calls the next day).

What can I do about this?

hmm.. i dunno.. either wait it out or get a new number? How long have you had the number? Maybe it was his number and he bailed on it to throw the debt collectors off?

You have to get the collection agency name and mailing address, and write a letter (send it certified) to have them stop calling you.

I don't answer the phone unless I know who it is. If it's important, they'll leave a number. If it's a telemarketer or some such other loser, they won't.

I had a similar problem for about a year.

They were looking for some Asian guy named Tran something or other. I got calls from 3 collection agencies and one spoke no English and would hang up when I answered.

I had to threaten one of those agencies with a harassment charge before they finally stopped calling me.

They would literally fill my answering machine in 4 days.

There are rules for these agencies that you can find using google.

If you have a smart phone get a program like MagiCall.

Program in a block rule to block every call from a 877 number and send them directly to your voicemail.

Get their information when they call, and send a registered letter telling them that so and so is not the individual at your phone #. State that they may no longer contact you in relation to so and so's debt, and that you reserve all rights under the TCPA, FDCPA, and whatever else you want to throw in there. If they keep calling, sue them and collect your statutory damages.

This is assuming you're not the guy they're looking for. Otherwise, pay your debts, deadbeat! ;)

They leave voicemails every time. Sometimes an automated one, sometimes an actual person reading from the script. The 2nd one especially annoys me, given that I identify myself by name in my voicemail message.

I get just the opposite, lots of hang ups.

Leave a new message saying " Hi This is (fill in name they're looking for) my new number and address is ( fill in gibberish). Sorry for the confusion." :)

during the summer, I came up with a new way deal with these people and telemarketers at the same time.

I have an old P3 450 system with modem set to answer the phone after 5 rings. I use this to filter my calls. People I don't want to deal with get to hear the PC trying to connect via the modem. This has been very effective at stopping unwanted calls.

Had a similiar problem with the number at my vacation home. Seemed it used to be the number for the Better Business Bureau. First tried putting in my greeting that it was not the BBB, still would get messages (usually from old folks, it is Florida after all). Finally changed the number.

Tell the person you had just killed Jeffery and you are now cooking him up. Ask the person if he'd like to come over for dinner.

The exact same thing happened to me on my cell phone. His name is Jeremy something. The most frequent callers are Charter cable, the local electric company, and some kind of clinic/hospital.

file phone harassment charges against them.
another idea: record the intro to a phone sex line then play it on the phone when you see any 877 numbers come up.
