antibiotics? blankets and warm soup.

Antibiotics are only usefull for a bacterial infection, and are overused as it is. It's more likely he has a viral illness like the flu or a cold, and antibiotics will do nothing.

How about...I dunno...going to the doctor?

Also, the 98.6 temperature is an average. People can be slightly warmer or cooler normally. I usually run around 99.5...

starve a cold, feed a flu. It could be the other way around, I can't remember.

dude that's perfectly normal. Not everybody is at 98.6 deg F, and a lot of people consider that number standardized too high. Everybody's metabolism varies, and their body temperature flucuates along with that.

Just took my under-the-tongue temperature...97.1 deg F. I feel fine.

normal body temperature is a range, not a specific number ^^^^^ seems about right

Drink some hot cocoa or chicken soup. Even if it doesn't actually matter, it might make you feel better knowing that your temp is higher.

Do you feel cold? Also, drinking fluids before you take your temp will affect the reading.

BTW-It's feed a cold, starve the flu.

Depending on where you are measuring your temp, it may be cooler then your core temp. So go get a 12" long rectal thermometer and then let us know if you are still below 98.6....;)
